Punting For Gold – GW8

Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a Premier League player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

Your third striker just got injured?  Your fifth midfielder stuck in rotation hell?  We’ll help you out with some suggestions to give your team a little boost!

Jeff Hendrick (Burnley)

After returning to the Burnley side in GW6, Hendrick has been fielded in the number 10 role, behind lone striker Chris Wood.  Bagging the winner last time around against Everton, the prospects are looking good for Hendrick to continue this attacking form into this weekend.  Playing at home to a struggling West Ham side, expect the Republic of Ireland international to be one of Burnley’s main attacking threats.  After only just returning from injury, we’re pretty sure Hendrick will be a free agent in most leagues.

Pascal Gross (Brighton & Hove Albion)

With two goals and two assists so far this season, Gross is surely Brighton’s only hope of staying up this season.  The creative German midfielder is at the centre of all of Brighton’s attacking play, and is positioned in the number 10 role.  Facing an Everton side in disarray this weekend, there’s every chance the former Ingolstadt maverick can add to his attacking returns.  Gross is probably still a free agent in most draft leagues due to the lack of attacking flair displayed by his side so far this season. Brighton have decent fixtures coming up also, so he’s well worth a punt!

Andre Carillo (Watford)

This little known Peruvian winger is almost definitely going to be a free agent in your league, despite his productive start to life in the Premier League.  Signed on loan from Benfica, Carillo has been thrust straight into the Watford starting line up.  Even though he’s only recorded one assist so far, Carillo has been impressive in Watford’s attacking trio, alongside Richarlison and Andre Gray.  A fixture at home to Arsenal will not be easy, but we’d recommend taking a punt on this major differential.  Fully expect a response of “Who the hell is that?!” upon making the signing though!

Wilfred Bony (Swansea City)

As outlined in our ‘Calculating The Cleanie‘ article for this gameweek, Swansea have a plum fixture at home to a struggling Huddersfield side.  Bony has already established himself in Paul Clements starting eleven, and even forced young Tammy Abraham to the bench for the last fixture.  Despite an injury concern over the international break, expect Bony to start this weekend.  Huddersfield were shocking in defence last time around against Tottenham, so the prospects look good for Bony to grab his first goal of the season.

Michy Batshuayi (Chelsea)

Chelsea’s back-up striker Batshuayi could be a decent short-term pick up, with question marks over the fitness of Alvaro Morata.  It’s currently unknown how long Morata will be out for, with reports changing on a daily basis, but he definitely won’t be featuring this weekend as Chelsea play a Crystal Palace side in disarray.  Despite the fact that Willian actually replaced Morata against Manchester City during the last game, we’re pretty confident Antonio Conte will field an out-and-out striker this weekend.  Take a chance on Michy, if he’s still free.
