Calculating The Cleanie – GW15

Streaming defenders is an essential tactic in Draft Fantasy Football, so we’re here to outline the best options on a weekly basis.

We pick out the best options for a clean sheet to be found in a Premier League defence with potentially low ownership, as well as players who look set to start for a top 6 side on a given gameweek.  Pick up a free agent from one of these sides to give your team a better chance of victory!

Top Tip: Stoke City

The Team: This week we’re backing Stoke City for our guaranteed clean sheet as they host Swansea City.  The Potters haven’t been on the best defensive form in recent weeks, but they have a great chance of a clean sheet against a struggling Swansea side.

The Players: All the Stoke defenders are likely to be free agents in Draft Fantasy Football leagues… Kurt Zouma and Ryan Shawcross are probably the best bets as they offer goal and/or bonus point potential.  Lee Grant is worth a punt if you have a spare goalkeeper slot.

The Opposition: Swansea haven’t scored for three games, and are really struggling for confidence.  Tammy Abraham will be welcomed back to the starting eleven for GW15, but don’t expect him to score.  Renato Sanches’ pass to the advertising board on Wednesday night summed up The Swans’ current situation pretty well…

The Prospects: Looking forward, the short term prospects for Stoke aren’t great, but GW 18 and 19 look prime for clean sheets if you have the squad depth to bench one a Stoke player for a couple of weeks.  With squad rotation likely over the coming weeks, the guaranteed starting berth of a Stoke defender could play to your advantage.

Looking Elsewhere

Leicester, Bournemouth, and even Everton could provide clean sheets this weekend, as they have home fixtures against teams struggling for goals.  Leicester play Burnley, which is probably a bit of a long-shot for a clean sheet.  But confidence will be high after The Foxes victory against Spurs on Tuesday night.  Bournemouth face a Southampton side who don’t score many, and Everton face Huddersfield after their thrashing at the hands of Arsenal.  Most Everton defenders are likely to be free agents after their recent awful form.

📝 Draft Platform 📝

Here at The Fantasy Football Chaps, we’re proud to be pioneer’s for having a Draft Fantasy Football League that runs COMPLETELY OFFLINE!  Check out our article looking into how to make this a reality, and have full control over customising your Draft League!

If this sounds like too much effort, we would highly recommend using an online platform from either the guys at Draft Fantasy or Fantrax.   Draft Fantasy uses a scoring system similar to the standard Official FPL game, where as Fantrax mainly uses the more intelligent scoring system made famous by Togga.  Both offer potential for end of season playoffs, as well as many other options for customisation!
