Streaming defenders is an essential tactic in Draft Fantasy Football, so we’re here to outline the best options on a weekly basis.
We pick out the best options for a clean sheet to be found in a Premier League defence with potentially low ownership, as well as players who look set to start for a top 6 side on a given gameweek. Pick up a free agent from one of these sides to give your team a better chance of victory!
Top Tip: Huddersfield Town
The Team: This week we’re backing Huddersfield for our guaranteed clean sheet as they host Stoke in GW20. Huddersfield haven’t kept a clean sheet for 4 gameweeks, but Stoke’s away form hasn’t been massively desirable.
The Players: It is likely that the Huddersfield defence will be totally available in your Draft Fantasy Football league, with very few managers having picked up a Huddersfield chaps. Christopher Schnidler and Mathias Jorgensen (Zanka) are the favourites of the Fantasy Football Chaps; with excellent potential for bonus point differentials if your Draft Fantasy Football League uses the Fantasy Premier League bonus point system. Tommy Smith waded in with an assist in GW19 and will again look to supply excellent service from the right-wingback position.
The Opposition: Under pressure Stoke have not been rolling the goals in of late; having not scored a goal in two games, and with a poor away goal record this season having only scored 9 goals away from home so far. The only recent positive for Stoke however, was the 3 goals they put past West Brom in GW19, with Eric Choupo-Moting in sublime form.
The Prospects: Looking further afield, Huddersfield have got some excellent fixtures over this festive period. With Burnley, West Ham, and the return fixture against Stoke all coming up in the new four fixtures.
West Brom vs Everton has the potential for a clean sheet. The Fantasy Football Chaps would be looking to back the Everton chaps for a clean sheet. Jonjoe Kenny is a safe punt, but the returning Michael Keane would be our preferred choice.
But for an alternate ‘Calculating the Cleanie’ punt this gameweek, it is difficult to look beyond Leicester as they travel to a struggling Watford; who haven’t won a game in 6 gameweeks. The obvious player to look towards is Harry Maguire, but if he is already taken by a rival Draft Fantasy Football manager, Benjamin Chilwell who only played 10 minutes in GW19 could benefit from the festive rotation.
📝 Draft Platform 📝
Here at The Fantasy Football Chaps, we’re proud to be pioneer’s for having a Draft Fantasy Football League that runs COMPLETELY OFFLINE! Check out our article looking into how to make this a reality, and have full control over customising your Draft League!
If this sounds like too much effort, we would highly recommend using an online platform from either the guys at Draft Fantasy or Fantrax. Draft Fantasy uses a scoring system similar to the standard Official FPL game, where as Fantrax mainly uses the more intelligent scoring system made famous by Togga. Both offer potential for end of season playoffs, as well as many other options for customisation!
