Punting For Gold – GW20

Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a Premier League player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

Your third striker just got injured?  Your fifth midfielder stuck in rotation hell?  We’ll help you out with some suggestions to give your team a little boost!

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

The Portuguese winger has gained three assists in his last three appearances, despite two of these being late cameos from the bench.  With the Christmas rotation in full swing, surely Bernardo Silva will start The Citizens’ GW20 fixture away to Newcastle.  If he does start, he’s likely to gain attacking returns in this ridiculously good Manchester City side.  If we were to guess on Pep’s rotation strategy, Silva could well start in GW20 and GW22, so he’s well worth a punt.

Juan Mata (Manchester United)

We Punted on Mata in GW19 and it came off a treat.  We’re going back for more, as The Spaniard is likely to be a free agent in most Draft Fantasy Football Leagues.  Take a punt on the midfield maestro, he should start in GW20 and has potential to bring home the points once again.

Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Fabregas hasn’t been on the best of form, and even features in the Cold section of our player rankings.  However, with Chelsea struggling for creativity during the bore-draw with Everton in GW20, we’re expecting the Spaniard to be recalled to the side.  The Blues face Brighton at home, and Fabregas should be at the centre of the action against The Seagulls.  Expect attacking returns.

Points Scored: 7

Erik Lamela (Tottenham Hotspur)

Lamela has been slowly re-introduced into the side since his return in GW14.  With the fixtures coming thick and fast, the Argentinian may well start in GW20 at home to a struggling Southampton side.  If you’re after a one week punt, consider Lamela… if he produces attacking returns he could well oust Son from the starting eleven.

Points Scored: 1

Laurent Depoitre (Huddersfield)

And, much like Mata, we’re going back in for Depoitre after he bagged a goal and three bonus in GW19 having featured in our Punts.  The big Belgian has two great home fixtures in GW20 and GW21, so if he’s a free agent, we’d highly recommend taking a punt on him.  A move from the probably injured Austin over to Depoitre may well be a move that’s on the cards.
