The Chaps Review – GW20

Our review of every game from the Premier League weekend… Get the lowdown on all of the action from the eyes of a Draft Fantasy Football expert!

Gameweek 20 was a good week for the Fantasy Football Chaps in our ‘Calculating the Cleanie‘ predictions.  We predicted a clean sheet for Everton, who duly delivered on Boxing Day.

Not so good for us with our ‘Punting for Gold‘ predictions after a couple of high scoring weeks.

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton

The big man Harry Kane got another hatty.  Boy oh boy, it must be good for the Draft Fantasy Football manager in your league that snapped him up first pick.  If anyone in your Draft Fantasy Football league had the first draft pick for 2017/18 season and chose not to draft Kane; we sincerely hope you are all ripping into that manager.  One of our ‘Hot or Cold‘ chaps, Dusan Tadic got himself a cheeky little goal, but other than that; everyone off the Southampton train.

AFC Bournemouth v West Ham Utd

Goals. Goals. Goals.  Who’s been jumping on the West Ham defence?  We have.  It might be a good time to move on from Aaron Cresswell and Angelo Ogbonna even with promising fixtures ahead.  Our ‘Shit Hot’ rated player in the ‘Hot or Cold‘ classifications Marko Arnautovic continues to shine, having now scored 5 goals in the last 5 gameweeks.

Chelsea v Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton continue to struggle in front of goal; our recommendation is that Draft Fantasy Football managers with Glenn Murray in their squad really need to consider an alternate cheap 3rd choice striker.  The Chelsea defence is still an excellent chance to pick up clean sheet points; chaps such as Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, and Victor Moses may be available in your Draft Fantasy Football league.

Huddersfield Town v Stoke City

We backed Huddersfield this weekend in our ‘Calculating the Cleanie‘ but Stoke and the impressive Joe Allen spoiled our predicition.  Allen has had a fine couple of gameweeks, with a goal and two assists, and would be a worthwhile punt for a 5th choice, cheap, midfield option.  It was great to see one of pre-seasons one-to-watch players, Tom Ince finally break his goal drought; one to keep an eye on for sure!

Manchester United v Burnley

He’s one of our hot rated players, Jesse Lingard proved to be United’s saviour with his brace of goals.  Thats now 3 goals in 3 games for Lingard which makes him an essential signing if he is a free agent in your Draft Fantasy Football league.  We pointed out a few weeks ago in our ‘Punting for Gold – GW18‘ article that Scott Arfield was one for Draft Fantasy Football managers to watch out for.  Arfield has now contributed two assists and a goal in the past five gameweeks since replacing the injured Robbie Brady.

Watford v Leicester City

A much needed result for Watford against a resurgent Leicester City.  A player that has somewhat slipped under the radar of most, but highlighted in our ‘Punting for Gold – GW17‘ article is Marc Albrighton.  Albrighton has been ever present of late and has two assists in two games for The Foxes.  It also looks like that Andre Carrillo has grasped the opportunity to start, in recent weeks the Watford midfielder has put in some good performances without the returns; however with Swansea on the horizon in gameweek 21 Carrillo would be a solid punt.

West Bromich Albion v Everton

As predicted by the Fantasy Football Chaps in our ‘Calculating the Cleanie‘ article, Everton kept the clean sheet.  In recent weeks we have been highlighting the need to sign Jonjoe Kenny, Cuco Martina or Ashley Williams if one of them is available in your Draft Fantasy Football league.  However, it is worth remind you of one of England’s biggest future stars; Michael Keane.  The summer signing is back from injury and has now kept successive clean sheets; of which one of these was against Chelsea.

Liverpool v Swansea City

Have you got a Swansea player in your Draft Fantasy Football team?  You need to reassess your Draft Fantasy Football strategy old chap.  Again, the big name chaps for Liverpool turn up; none of them will be available in your Draft Fantasy Football league so we won’t talk about them.

But we guarantee that you are weighing up whether to jump on the Liverpool defence.  Well, we have been suggesting that Dejan Lovern was a a worthwhile punt for some time now, but you’re considering the wing-backs.  Our advice is to tread carefully here; there is a hint of the Spurs wing-back rotation about Liverpool.  On the right, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have both been super impressive; but they are being rotated.  Perhaps Gomez has the nudge on Alexander-Arnold but with the later scoring on boxing day, who can be sure?  Do you need that headache?  On the left, Andrew Robertson has started all six of the previous gameweeks, as Alberto Moreno is injured.  Moreno, who was the man in possession of the starting shirt looks to be out for a while so perhaps if you want to get on the Liverpool defensive train; Robertson is your man.

Newcastle Utd v Manchester City

Once again it was the big name players that dominated this fixture.  Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling bringing the points home for the Draft Fantasy Football managers with ownership of these chaps.  Our ‘Punting for Gold‘ player Bernardo Silva didn’t live up to our hype, but a potential punt might be Danilo Luiz da Silva (Danilo) who has now collected two clean sheets in the last two games.

Crystal Palace v Arsenal

A night to remember for Draft Fantasy Football managers with Andros Townsend in their side, the Palace winger scored a goal, setup another, and came away with 2 bonus points in the Fantasy Premier League bonus point system.  One of the Fantasy Football Chaps favourite chaps made a goal scoring come back; Shkodran Mustafi.  But Mustafi was unable to sure up a wobbly Arsenal defence that has now shipped 5 goals in 2 games.  However, with West Brom coming up, Mustafi looks a good punt for a clean sheet in GW21.
