Punting for Gold – GW24

Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a Premier League player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

Your third striker just got injured?  Your fifth midfielder stuck in rotation hell?  We’ll help you out with some suggestions to give your team a little boost!

Troy Deeney (Watford)

The man, the legend, the striker.  Troy Deeney makes his debut appearance in our Punting For Gold article, after returning to the side to gain an assist in GW23.  After being suspended over the Christmas period, Deeney is looking to establish himself back in the side.  The Watford strikers were pretty poor in his absence, and the club captain has a good chance of starting this weekend away to Leicester City.  He’s on penalties, and has a decent chance of scoring this week.  Certainly worth a look if you’re a bit light up top!

Marc Albrighton (Leicester City)

Albrighton has started six games in a row, despite the congested schedule, and gained four attacking returns over this period.  Leicester face a Watford side who love to concede goals, so Albrighton may be able to add to his tally.  If you’re opponent has Mahrez or Vardy, the Englishman would be a good alternative to try and cover their points potential.  The winger has been added to our Hot List based on his recent good form.

Theo Walcott (TBC)

At the time of writing, Walcott is an Arsenal player, but we’re expecting his move to Everton to go through before GW24 begins.  The Toffees are playing West Brom at home, and we’re backing Theo to hit the ground running.  He may not start the game, but expect him to come off the bench and make an impact.  Sign up Theo if you can… he showed excellent form last season for The Gunners, so its a bit of a mystery why he has played so little so far this season.

Points Scored: 4

Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City)

Manchester City face Newcastle Utd at home, and will be in a defiant mood after suffering their first loss of the season in GW23.  Ilkay Gundogan has started four of the last six games, as outlined in our Hot or Cold player rankings, and gained a goal and an assist during the crazy game at Anfield.  If he starts this weekend, he’s got a great chance of further attacking returns.  The injuries are piling up for City, and he should gain plenty of opportunities over the coming weeks.

Points Scored: 0

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Liverpool)

The Ox had a stormer against Manchester City in GW23, and is showing signs of breaking out from the pack of average Liverpool midfielders.  One of them had to step up in the absence of Philippe Coutinho, and it looks like it could be Oxlade-Chamberlain – we’ve added him to our Hot List.  Adam Lallana has a chance to re-establish himself, so he could be one to watch.  Liverpool face a struggling Swansea City side for GW24, so look for The Ox to gain further returns in this game.
