Punting for Gold – GW30

Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a Premier League player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

Your third striker just got injured?  Your fifth midfielder stuck in rotation hell?  We’ll help you out with some suggestions to give your team a little boost!

Will Hughes

Team: Watford

Opponent: Arsenal (Away)

Ownership:  6% (Togga) / 0% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  “Wow…where has this one come from Fantasy Football Chaps?”  We hear you chaps, but lets break it down.  The Watford midfielder was having a purple patch in the mid winter when injury hit.  Whilst on the subject of injuries, Watford have a horrendous injury list at present; particularly across their midfield.  The recent injury to star signing Gerard Deulofeu has opened the door to Hughes who grabbed an assist in a cameo 25 minutes in GW29.  Expect Hughes to feature from the start in this gameweek against an Arsenal side who look a total liability at the back.  A fixture in GW31 (albeit against Liverpool) is another reason to consider the Watford man.  We have analysed the reduced fixture round, GW31, in greater detail in our special feature “GW31: Whats the deal?!

Points Scored:  1

Rajiv van La Parra

Team: Huddersfield Town

Opponent: Swansea City (Home)

Ownership:  8% (Togga) / 0% (DFF)

Prospects:  The half brother of Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum is an extremely low ownership player in the Premier League according to the ownership statistics.  Stats aside, van La Parra has bagged two goals in the last three gameweeks.  GW30 could well be another promising one, with Swansea the visitors, who haven’t won on the road since GW21.  It is also worth noting that Huddersfield are only one of eight teams to have a fixture in GW31, increasing van La Parra’s stock somewhat.

Points Scored:  3

Michail Antonio

Team: West Ham Utd

Opponent: Burnley (Home)

Ownership:  78% (Togga) / 29% (DFF)

Prospects:  The stats suggest that Antonio is highly owned, but if he is a free agent in your Draft Fantasy Football league, you need to seriously consider a punt.  Two goals and an assist in the last three gameweeks will have got Draft Fantasy Football managers taking note at Antonio.  The strong attacking midfielder has struggled with injuries this season (regularly featuring in our ‘Injury Watch’ blog where we keep an eye on the injured big names of Draft Fantasy Football).  As a result of the injuries Antonio has struggled to maintain a run of form.  However, with Burnley up this week, who haven’t kept a clean sheet since GW21; look to Antonio for attacking returns for a forth consecutive week.

Points Scored:  2

Cenk Tosun

Team: Everton

Opponent: Brighton & Hove Albion (Home)

Ownership:  22% (Togga) / 4% (DFF)

Prospects:  He scores his first goal for the Toffees and he’s back on all Draft Fantasy Football managers radar.  He’s even made it back into our ‘Hot or Cold‘ rankings as a Lukewarm player with potential for attacking returns.  Tosun is a guarenteed starter in GW30 against Brighton, who’ve not kept a clean sheet since GW21.  But it isn’t just GW30 that makes Tosun an attractive punt, as Everton play Stoke in the dreaded GW31!  Anyway, he’s scored a goal now so lets all get super hyped up and draft him in.  Tosun is our over-excited top punt this gameweek.

Points Scored:  8

Jose Heriberto Izquierdo Mena

Team: Brighton & Hove Albion

Opponent: Everton (Away)

Ownership:  28% (Togga) / 5% (DFF)

Prospects:  The Brighton midfielders’ form over the recent four gameweeks has been so good; we’ve included him in our Fantasy Football Chaps ‘Hot or Cold‘ rankings as a hot player worthy of keeping an eye on.  Two goals and an assist in the past four gameweeks takes Izquierdo’s season tally to 4 goals and 3 assists.  Everton have failed to keep a clean sheet in 9 gameweeks, and with Brighton on red hot goal scoring form, expect the creative Izquierdo to be in the thick of the action; particularly as a lead set piece taker (vital in Draft Fantasy Football, set piece takers can be the difference for you in your head-to-head fixture; we have captured all the key set piece takers across the Premier League clubs for you in our ‘Set Piece‘ post).

📝 Draft Platform 📝

Here at The Fantasy Football Chaps, we’re proud to be pioneer’s for having a Draft Fantasy Football League that runs COMPLETELY OFFLINE!  Check out our article looking into how to make this a reality, and have full control over customising your Draft League!

If this sounds like too much effort, we would highly recommend using an online platform from either the guys at Draft Fantasy or Fantrax.   Draft Fantasy uses a scoring system similar to the standard Official FPL game, where as Fantrax mainly uses the more intelligent scoring system made famous by Togga.  Both offer potential for end of season playoffs, as well as many other options for customisation!
