Punting for Gold – GW34

Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a Premier League player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

Your third striker just got injured?  Your fifth midfielder stuck in rotation hell?  We’ll help you out with some suggestions to give your team a little boost!

Ayoze Perez

Team: Newcastle United

Opponent: Arsenal (Home)

Ownership:  16% (Togga) / 2% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Two goals and three assists in the last six gameweeks has made the Newcastle striker hot property in many Draft Fantasy Football leagues and a player we have been highlighting in our ‘Hot or Cold’ player rankings for some weeks now.  For a player in such red hot form, we expected the ownership statistics to be much higher for Perez, he is a free agent in our Draft Fantasy Football league, and is likely to be in yours.  If he is indeed free, Perez is well worth the punt.  The visitors to fortress St James’ Park are an Arsenal side who’ve stated that the Europa League is the main target.  Expect Newcastle to take full advantage of what could well be an under strength Arsenal side.

Aaron Lennon

Team: Burnley

Opponent: Leicester (Home) and Chelsea (Home)

Ownership:  18% (Togga) / 1% (DFF)

Prospects:  We’re punting on Lennon again?!?!?  That’s right.  If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.  We punted on Lennon in GW33 ‘Punting for Gold’ but the punt didn’t come in.  Well this gameweek we Fantasy Football Chaps think it will all be different with Lennon leading the charge for attacking returns.  With two assists in his last three games, Lennon found his way into our ‘Hot or Cold’ player rankings.  But this is not all, Lennon is a double gameweek legend, with both Leicester and Chelsea visiting Turf Moor in GW34.  Expect Lennon to be a guaranteed starter and to be at the centre of all things attack for Burnley.

Points Scored:  3

Danny Welbeck

Team: Arsenal

Opponent: Newcastle United (Away)

Ownership:  44% (Togga) / 24% (DFF)

Prospects:  With the end of the season looming around the corner, Draft Fantasy Football Leagues can be won with a punt of pure inspiration.  It is a moment when picking up a complete rogue player that has done f**k all for the whole season but has somehow come into red hot form could be the difference in your quest for ultimate glory.

Chaps.  We present to you; Danny Welbeck.

Three goals and an assist in the opening four games of the season had the Draft Fantasy Football leagues scrambling for Welbeck.  Yet after this promising start, injuries and a drastic lack of game-time significantly hampered the England forwards potential.  That was until the match winning performance in GW33, which saw Welbeck bag two goals and an assist.  Another goal in the Europa League has all but secured Welbeck’s inclusion for a starting shirt in Arsenals GW34 fixture away to Newcastle.

Points Scored:  1

Charlie Austin

Team: Southampton

Opponent: Chelsea (Home) and Leicester (Away)

Ownership:  13% (Togga) / 11% (DFF)

Prospects: Let us start of by stating we love Charlie-boi Austin, and if it were not for injuries, Charlie-boi would have featured heavily in our punts this season.  A Draft Fantasy Football Legend, Austin is a natural goal scorer; but injuries have yet again held him back.  Unsurprisingly, Austin has low ownership statistics.  However, it only took 20 minutes of action in GW33 for Austin to find the back of the net; elevating him into our ‘Hot or Cold’ player rankings.  Opposition Chelsea and Leicester will be no pushovers, particularly for a struggling Southampton side.  However, a double gameweek for Austin means there will be double the opportunities to score, right?  Yeah, we will have some of that.

Points Scored:  2

Luca Milivojevic

Team: Crystal Palace

Opponent: Brighton (Home)

Ownership:  72% (Togga) / 8.8% (DFF)

Prospects:  Another player in our ‘Hor or Cold’ rankings.  Mr Penalty.  The statistics are conflicting, but given he has only just been snapped up in the Fantasy Football Chaps Draft Fantasy Football League (that’s a mouth full) there is a chance the Palace midfielder is available in your league.  Lets get this very clear, if Milivojevic is available; sign him immediately.  After a slow start to the season, Milivojevic has turned into one of the most consistent players for Palace, contributing ten goals to date.  Of these ten goals, seven have come in the last twelve games.  Struggling Brighton haven’t kept a clean sheet since GW21 so expect attacking returns from one of the Premier Leagues most in form players.
