Punting For Gold – GW37

Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a Premier League player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

Your third striker just got injured?  Your fifth midfielder stuck in rotation hell?  We’ll help you out with some suggestions to give your team a little boost!

Its a Double Gameweek Special this week, as we feature five Chaps who all have two fixtures, and a chance to really bring home some good points returns.  With many Draft Leagues now entering the playoffs, its essential you make the most of the extended fixture list!

Andre Ayew

Team:  Swansea City

Opponent:  AFC Bournemouth (Away), Southampton (Home)

Ownership:  16% (Togga) / 15% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  With Swansea City needing to perform over this double gameweek… now is the time for Andre Ayew to really step up.  No attacking return in six games for the Ghanaian,  but we’re predicting this to change as Swansea face Bournemouth and Southampton during this gameweek.  Ayew has the potential to be The Swans’ best player, and his link up play with brother Jordan will hopefully produce results this gameweek.  Bournemouth and Southampton have been pretty poor in defence in recent weeks and months, so Swansea are highly likely to score in both of their games.

Alternative Choice:  Jordan Ayew – A great alternative, but has much higher ownership statistics than his brother.

Points Scored:   4

Dusan Tadic

Team:  Southampton

Opponent:  Everton (Away), Swansea City (Away)

Ownership:  94% (Togga) / 26% (DFF)

Prospects:  Dusan Tadic has decided to start playing like Dusan Tadic!!  The Serbian international has three goals in his last three games, just in time for the season finale as well as a cheeky double gameweek.  Southampton have two away fixtures, visiting Everton and Swansea.  Both of these games are winnable, and expect Southampton to get chances in the final third.  Tadic is such a rogue player, but if he’s free in your Draft League we would highly recommend signing him up for this gameweek – he’s now made our Hot List ahead of the weekend!

Alternative Choice:  Charlie Austin – Things haven’t been going his way in recent weeks, but still worth a punt as Southampton do have goals in them.

Points Scored:  5

Olivier Giroud

Team:  Chelsea

Opponent:  Liverpool (Home), Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  80% (Togga) / 37% (DFF)

Prospects:  Oh yes yes yes.  We love a bit of Giroud.  The sexy striker has started Chelsea’s last two league games, as Morata continues to struggle.  Giroud has recently made our Hot List, after scoring twice against Southampton in GW34.  The Frenchman hasn’t scored in the league since, but did bag a cheeky goal in the FA Cup semi final.  Chelsea have a great set of double gameweek fixtures, as they face Liverpool and Huddersfield at home.  Liverpool will perhaps rest some of their best players after qualifying for the Champions League Final, and Huddersfield are simply on awful form.  Giroud will start at least one of these games, and will surely be brought on as a substitute in the other if he doesn’t start.  Now is the time to take a punt on Giroud if he’s a free agent in your Draft League!

Alternative Choice:  Kelechi Iheanacho – Leicester are well and truly on the beach, so this pick comes with great caution… The Foxes do have two home fixtures for GW37 so anything can happen.

Points Scored:  10

Marcus Rashford

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Brighton & Hove Albion (Away), West Ham Utd (Away)

Ownership:  91% (Togga) / 45% (DFF)

Prospects:  With the main man Romelu Lukaku out injured, now is the perfect time to take a punt of Mr Rashford.  The young striker has struggled a bit with game time recently, but he was the one to replace Lukaku as the central striker after he limped off in GW36.  With this being a double gameweek, Rashford will start at least one of United’s games, and, as always, if he’s on the pitch he’s got a great chance of scoring!  Rashford will be looking to impress ahead of the World Cup, and now should be his time to shine.  Hopefully Jose gives him some good minutes over the double gameweek.  United face Brighton and West Ham away this gameweek, with both struggling for form at the moment.  Expect goals, and expect Rashford to be involved!

Alternative Choice:  Dwight Gayle – With Slimani now suspended for three games, Gayle should get two starts over the double gameweek.

Points Scored:  3

Manuel Lanzini

Team:  West Ham United

Opponent:  Leicester (Away), Manchester United (Home)

Ownership:  89% (Togga) / 28% (DFF)

Prospects:  The Argentinian playmaker has played very little football since suffering an injury in GW24, but now is his time to step up!  The Hammers are not yet safe from relegation, so they will be looking towards Lanzini, as well as our boi Arnie, for inspiration over the course of this double GW.  West Ham face a Leicester side already on their summer holidays, followed by Man Utd at home.  David Moyes will be hoping for some decent returns from these games, so Lanzini is worth taking a punt on.

Alternative Choice:  Aaron Cresswell – Yes he’s a defender, but worth a punt for attacking returns considering his set-piece skills!

Points Scored:  6

Total GW Score:  28

Average GW Score:  5.6

Season Average:  3.7 Points Per Player
