Punting For Gold – GW11

Premier League Draft Fantasy Football is all about picking a diamond from the rough, a hidden gem that no one else has considered, or a player hitting a good run of form.  This weekly article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score, recommending five attacking differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

We use the ownership statistics as per Draft Fantasy, with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 30% or below.  That way there’s a good chance each player will be a free agent in your Draft Fantasy Football League!  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week Punt!

N.B: For the purposes of this article, we use the standard scoring systems used by Official FPL and Draft Fantasy – including bonus points.

Gerard Deulofeu

Position:  Midfielder

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  3% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  We’re going back for more this week, after we successfully backed Deulofeu during our GW10 Punting For Gold blog.  He gained his second start of the season, duly delivered a goal, and looks set to stay in the side for the foreseeable future.  Chap 2 snapped him up from the free agents list this week – we highly recommend you do the same!!  This week Watford face a shocking Newcastle side, where we are fully expecting The Hornets to make it three wins in a row.  Deulofeu will be involved in most of their attacking play, and should gain himself more attacking returns this weekend.  He’s so hot right now.  Nothing more to say!

Alternative Choice:  Marc Albrighton (3% – Draft Fantasy Football).  Another Draft Fantasy Football favourite who has recently returned to his respective starting eleven is Marc Albrighton.  The English winger was heavily involved against West Ham in GW10, and will surely play a big part of Leicester’s attacking play once again as they face Cardiff in GW11.

Isaac Success

Position:  Striker

Team: Watford

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  1% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Doubling up on Watford players for the Punts?!  Yes please.  We just had to highlight Isaac Success in his own right this week, after tipping him as an alternative pick for GW10.  He bagged himself a goal, and looks to have established himself in the Watford side for the time being.  Chap 1 has also jumped on board the Watford train with his transfer this week, bringing in Success and hoping he continues in the side when Deeney returns from injury.  The fixture against Newcastle will bring plenty of opportunities for Watford, and Success will be desperate to make the most of his time on the field, after suffering lots of set backs since his arrival from Granada a couple of years ago.  If he can hold off competition from Deeney and Gray, he could be a great third striker for Draft Fantasy Football Managers.

Alternative Choice:  Sam Vokes (11% –  Draft Fantasy Football).  Vokes has gained five starts in a row for Burnley, and returned a couple of goals in this time.  If you’re after a third striker who’s currently playing, he could be your man.  The Welshman was withdrawn before the hour in GW10, however, so his run in the side could be coming to an end.  Act with caution on this one.

Bobby Reid

Position:  Striker

Team:  Cardiff

Opponent:  Leicester (Home)

Ownership:  4% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Reid bagged a goal and an assist in the GW9 victory over Fulham, which was Cardiff’s most recent home game.  This weekend they face a Leicester side who haven’t exactly been solid at the back, and we’re expecting Reid to add to his Premier League tally.  The youngster has started six out of ten games so far this season, but after his display against Fulham a couple of weeks ago, we’re expecting him to now be in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future.  The former Bristol City man has lots of potential, and is an ideal pick-up for those of you struggling to find a striker in deep leagues.  Cardiff have been finding the back of the net fairly frequently recently, after major struggles at the start of the season… Bringing in a Cardiff attacker doesn’t seem so mad now does it!

Alternative Choice:  Josh Murphy (2% – Draft Fantasy Football).  The former Norwich City youngster has bagged two goals in his last four appearances, which is pretty bloody good for a Cardiff player.  Murphy features on our Hot List, and is a good choice for a fifth midfielder – his direct play means that attacking returns should come, even if he plays poorly.

GW11 Points Scored:  2

Ross Barkley

Position:  Midfielder

Team:  Chelsea

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  19% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  What a few weeks its been for Barkley… he’s bagged six attacking returns for Chelsea, and got himself back into the England side after a long time on the sidelines!  GW10 was an amazing one for Barkley, as he gained a goal and two assists – 17 points in FPL scoring!!  He looks set to continue in the Chelsea side for the foreseeable future, and is a player you really need to take a punt on right now.  If he’s a free agent in your Draft Fantasy Football League, you need to sign him up, and hope that he continues in the starting eleven.  It’s 100% worth a punt, and Barkley is now riding high at the top of our Hot List for midfielders!!  Chelsea face Crystal Palace at home this weekend, and we’re expecting two or three goals from The Blues.  Barkley will be involved heavily in the attacking play once again, and further points should follow in GW11.

Alternative Choice:  Erik Lamela (21% – Draft Fantasy Football).  Another player to recently come into favour at a Top Six club is Erik Lamela.  The Argentinean has started the last couple of games, and should do so again this weekend considering the poor form, or fitness issues, of his creative midfield rivals.  Certainly worth a punt for the fixture against Wolves.

GW11 Points Scored:  2

David Brooks

Position:  Midfielder

Team:  Bournemouth

Opponent:  Manchester United (Home)

Ownership:  14% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  With three goals in his last four games, Brooks is one of the form players in the Premier League right now.  We were wondering if the youngsters time was up after a poor GW9 display which resulted in being hooked off early… but Brooks was given another chance in GW10 and bagged another goal!  His form has seen him make our Hot List.  This weekend The Cherries face Manchester United in front of a home crowd, and will be looking to continue their good recent form.  United have been very inconsistent so far this season, and poor at the back, so it’s highly likely that Bournemouth will get on the scoresheet.  A goal for Brooks against a team of United’s caliber will top off a terrific start to his Premier League career!

Alternative Choice:  Aaron Mooy (9% – Draft Fantasy Football).  A Huddersfield player!!!!  Yes, we know they are rubbish, but a home fixture against the worst defence in the league… surely Aaron Mooy is worth a punt if you’re in a large league!  He is a talented player, just stuck in a woeful side.
