Chaps Choices – GW20

We bring to you a new format for our weekly blog posts… Chaps Choices!!  This article combines our two standard weekly blogs, Calculating The Cleanie and Punting For Gold, to create a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks!

Whether you play Draft Fantasy or Fantrax platforms, this article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score.  We recommend a team of Draft Fantasy differentials and Fantrax differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

We use the ownership statistics as per Draft Fantasy and Fantrax with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 35% or below on DFF, and 65% or below on Fantrax.  That way there’s a good chance each player will be a free agent in your Draft Fantasy Football League!  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week Punt!

Draft Fantasy Starting Eleven:

**35% ownership or below**

GW20 DFF

FWD: Troy Deeney

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Newcastle (Home)

Ownership:  35% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Only three goals so far this season, but the veteran striker plays every game, and is therefore a decent bet for GW20, as Watford host struggling Newcastle.  We expect Watford to get back to winning ways after the defeat at home to Chelsea, and Deeney should play once again.  He’s still their main man up top, and is on penalty duty.  If Deeney is a free agent in your Draft League, he’s worth snapping up for this game.

GW20 Points Scored:  1

FWD: Kelechi Iheanacho

Team:  Leicester City

Opponent:  Cardiff (Home)

Ownership:  33% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The Nigerian has sat out the last two games, but as the festive period really kicks in this weekend, Iheanacho could earn himself a start at home to Cardiff.  Vardy could drop out after his recent fitness issues, or Iheanacho could indeed partner Vardy if Puel decides to go on the attack against Cardiff.  If you need a punt on a striker this weekend, Iheanacho could be worth a shot.

GW20 Points Scored:  1

MID: Marc Albrighton

Team: Leicester City

Opponent:  Cardiff (Home)

Ownership:  3% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The highly underrated Englishman has been playing very well in recent weeks, and bagged a goal against City in GW19.  Albrighton is a consistent performer, and we think he’ll gain another start at the weekend, despite the congested fixture list.  Leicester face Cardiff at home, and goals should be on the cards.

GW20 Points Scored:  1

MID: Abdoulaye Doucoure

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Newcastle (Home)

Ownership:  28% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  If you’re after a consistent source of points this Christmas, look no further than Doucoure.  The Frenchman plays 90 minutes every game, and pops up with important goals every so often – that’s enough to make our Hot List during the busy fixture schedule.  He gained three attacking returns between GW15-17, and could gain more this weekend as Watford host Newcastle.  We’re expecting Watford to get back to winning ways, and Doucoure will be at the heart of The Hornet’s play this weekend.

GW20 Points Scored:  7

MID: Ander Herrera

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Home)

Ownership:  2% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Herrera came off the bench to provide an assist for Pogba during the 3-1 victory over Huddersfield in GW19.  We think the Spaniard will come into the starting eleven for the GW20 fixture at home to Bournemouth, and he will be an integral part of the midfield once again.  Herrera has four attacking returns in the last six games, and now that United are a free-scoring side, these returns will surely increase.

GW20 Points Scored:  4

MID: Ryan Sessegnon

Team:  Fulham

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  34% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The youngster returned from injury in GW19, making a goal-scoring appearance from the bench in the 1-1 draw with Wolves.  We think Sessegnon will start in GW20, as Fulham host fellow strugglers Huddersfield.  Fulham simply have to win this game, and Sessegnon will be a key player for The Cottagers.

GW20 Points Scored:  4

DEF: Calum Chambers

Team:  Fulham

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  1% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The Arsenal loanee has been fielded in midfield in recent weeks, which will increase his chances of an attacking return… obviously the chances of this are still fairly low, but lets try and be optimistic here!!  Fulham have been getting better defensively, and they even gained a clean sheet against Newcastle in GW18.  Chambers has been important in the added defensive stability, and there’s a chance they could gain a shut-out against fellow relegation fighters Huddersfield this weekend.

GW20 Points Scored:  6

DEF: Issa Diop

Team:  West Ham

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  5% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  West Ham have been massively inconsistent in defence this season, but they did manage away clean sheets in both GW14 and GW17… This weekend they face a trip to Burnley, and have a decent chance of gaining that all important shut-out once again.  Diop has been good so far this season, as he’s formed a decent partnership with fellow new signing Balbuena.  The Hammers are in the midst of a great fixture schedule, and despite losing to Watford in GW18, their spirits will still be high after the GW19 victory at Southampton.

GW20 Points Scored:  1

DEF: Yerry Mina

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Brighton (Away)

Ownership:  32% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The monster centre back scored his first goal for Everton in GW19, and it should be the first of many.  Mina bagged 8 points, despite not keeping a clean sheet.  He’s now established in the Everton side, and if he’s a free agent in your Draft League (he still is in ours) you really need to sign him up!  Everton face Brighton this weekend, and even if The Toffee’s do concede, Mina will always have a chance of bagging a goal from set pieces.

GW20 Points Scored:  1

DEF: Jonny Evans

Team:  Leicester City

Opponent:  Cardiff (Home)

Ownership:  5% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Now then, Evans hasn’t been a mainstay in the Leicester backline this season, and The Foxes have won back to back games against two of the best sides in the league, but surely Wes Morgan can’t play three games in one week???  Therefore, we’re backing Evans to come into the side this weekend, as Leicester face Cardiff in front of their own fans.  Surely a clean sheet is on the cards here, and Evans has a decent chance of starting this game.

GW20 Points Scored:  0

GK: Ben Foster

Team: Watford

Opponent: Newcastle (Home)

Ownership:  24% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  It’s always slim pickings for goalkeepers under 35% ownership, but Foster is a prime candidate this weekend, as Watford host struggling Newcastle.  The Hornets gained a rare clean sheet in GW18 against West Ham, and we think they are in with a decent chance of doing it again.  Newcastle have only scored three goals in their last six games.

GW20 Points Scored:  2

Draft Fantasy GW20 Team Points:  28

Draft Fantasy GW20 Team Average:  2.5 points per player

Draft Fantasy GW20 Team Average Ownership:  18%

Fantrax Starting Eleven (Togga scoring):

**65% ownership or below**

GW20 Fantrax

FWD: Steve Mounie

Team: Huddersfield

Opponent:  Fulham (Away)

Ownership:  37% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Zero goals and three assists, but he averages over 8 points per game in Togga scoring…that’s just ridiculous!  Mounie is a dependable asset that every Togga team needs.  Since returning from suspension in GW18, the Frenchman scored 19 points in GW18 and 11.5 points in GW19!  This weekend Huddersfield face a leaky Fulham side that have conceded 43 goals this season!  Mounie probably won’t score, but he’s bound to gain a decent points haul.

GW20 Points Scored:  11.5

FWD: Kelechi Iheanacho

Team:  Leicester City

Opponent:  Cardiff City (Home)

Ownership:  27% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  We think that Iheanacho will start in GW20; given the frequency of the matches and with Vardy looking to be carrying an injury in the GW19 fixture against Manchester City.  Iheanacho has five assists and a goal to his name this season, despite hardly picking up much game time.

GW20 Points Scored:  0

MID: Marc Albrighton

Team:  Leicester City

Opponent:  Cardiff City (Home)

Ownership:  50% (Fantrax)

Prospects: Albrighton was in exceptional form in GW19 as he lead his side to a shock victory over Manchester City with a well taken goal.  Albrighton is consistent and highly underrated.  Yet he scores well in Togga format with an average of 7.14 points per game; he has two goals and two assists so far this season.  Cardiff City have conceded 38 goals in the Premier League this season, 11 of which have come in the last five GWs.

GW20 Points Scored:  3

MID: Etienne Capoue

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Newcastle (Home)

Ownership:  52% (Fantrax)

Prospects: Although Capoue is not necessarily associated with attacking returns, he has contributed two assists and a goal.  However chaps, we’ve not included Capoue for his attacking potential; his Togga statistics are pretty good.  Capoue offers an average of 7.53 points per game and a guaranteed starter over the festive rotation period.  So if you need reliable points in your Draft Fantasy Football side, the Watford midfielder offers just that.

GW20 Points Scored:  3.5

MID: Ander Herrera

Team: Manchester United

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Home)

Ownership:  37% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Herrera form is so hot right now making into our Draft Fantasy Football form rankings; he even came off the bench to grab an assist in United’s GW19 victory over Huddersfield.  We think the central midfielder will be back in the starting eleven for GW20 against Bournemouth.  Herrera has four attacking returns in the last six games, and with United becoming more of a free-scoring side, these returns will surely increase.  Herrera gains good Togga scores even without attacking returns, so he’s even more valuable on this scoring system, averaging 7.79 points per game.

GW20 Points Scored:  9

MID: Oleksandr Zinchencko

Team:  Manchester City

Opponent:  Southampton (Away)

Ownership:  6% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  With Delph suspended for GW20 and Mendy out injured, we expect Manchester City to turn to Zinchencko at left back against Southampton.  City need to get back to winning ways, and although Southampton are on a resurgence; surely City will close this game out and Zinchencko will pick up a clean sheet?  Zinchencko is a high scorer in Togga format; with an average of 9.75 points per game.

GW20 Points Scored:  13

DEF: Calum Chambers

Team:  Fulham

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  13% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  One of this seasons Togga favourites finally makes it into the Chaps Choices.  Although categorised as a defender, Chambers is playing in midfield for Fulham.  Despite his lack of attacking returns, Chambers is a handy Togga player, scoring relatively well and has potential for attacking returns given his advanced playing role.  A clean sheet for Fulham is unlikely, even against Huddersfield, but a decent points score for Chambers should be on the cards.

GW20 Points Scored:  20.25

DEF: Issa Diop

Team:  West Ham

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  14% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  We did want Balbuena in this slot, as he’s a better Togga scoring asset than Diop, but due to his ongoing injury, we’ve gone with a certain starter for GW20.  West Ham have been massively inconsistent in defence this season, but they did manage away clean sheets in both GW14 and GW17… This weekend they face a trip to Burnley, and have a decent chance of gaining that all important shut-out once again.  The Hammers are in the midst of a great fixture schedule, and despite losing to Watford in GW18, their spirits will still be high after the GW19 victory at Southampton.

GW20 Points Scored:  0.75

DEF: Yerry Mina

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Brighton (Away)

Ownership:  42% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Mina returned to the starting lineup in GW19 with a goal in the 5-1 victory.  Averaging 7.25 points per game, Mina faces a Brighton side that aren’t exactly the most lethal in front of goal; 21 goals in the Premier League this season to date.  We fully expect Everton and Mina to cope with Brighton in GW20.  The Colombian is scoring very highly for aerials won, and clearances made.

GW20 Points Scored:  -0.25

DEF: Craig Cathcart

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Newcastle (Home)

Ownership:  13% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  The Watford defender who already has one game to his name this season offers an excellent clean sheet opportunity this weekend as Watford host Newcastle.  Although Cathcart and Watford have only kept one clean sheet in the last six GWs; Newcastle have only scored three goals in their past six GWs.  The Magpies’ forwards look completely out of form and we fully expect Cathcart to come away with a cleanie and a decent score.

GW20 Points Scored:   5.25

GK: Kasper Schmeichel

Team:  Leicester City

Opponent:  Cardiff City (Home)

Ownership:  64% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Schmeichel has been in sublime form the past couple of GWs being at the forefront of the back-to-back victories against Manchester City in GW19 and keeping a crucial clean sheet in GW18 against Chelsea.  GW20 brings the easier challenge of Cardiff City  who have scored only eighteen goals this season.  With six clean sheets to his name already this season; we fully expect Schmeichel to make it seven in GW20!

GW20 Points Scored:  2.5

Fantrax GW20 Team Points:  68.5

Fantrax GW20 Team Average:  6.25 2.5 points per player

Fantrax GW20 Average Ownership:  32%
