Chaps Choices – GW21

We bring to you a new format for our weekly blog posts… Chaps Choices!!  This article combines our two standard weekly blogs, Calculating The Cleanie and Punting For Gold, to create a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks!

Whether you play Draft Fantasy or Fantrax platforms, this article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score.  We recommend a team of Draft Fantasy differentials and Fantrax differentials who could score big in the upcoming gameweek.

We use the ownership statistics as per Draft Fantasy and Fantrax with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 35% or below on DFF, and 65% or below on Fantrax.  That way there’s a good chance each player will be a free agent in your Draft Fantasy Football League!  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week Punt!

Draft Fantasy Starting Eleven:

**35% ownership or below**

FPL GW21

FWD: Salomon Rondon

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Manchester United (Home)

Ownership:  25% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Rondon has upped his game in recent weeks, and bagged Newcastle’s goal in the GW20 draw with Watford.  He should start again in GW21, after sitting out the Boxing Day fixture.  Newcastle face Manchester United at home, and should score at least one goal – Rondon is likely to be involved in this.  Another Magpies attacker who has performed well in recent weeks, is Matt Ritchie.  He’s a decent option if you’re looking for a midfielder.

GW21 Points Scored:  2

FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Leicester (Home)

Ownership:  10% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Calvert-Lewin sat out the GW20 defeat against Brighton, and after performing well in recent games, we’re expecting him to be re-called to the starting eleven.  Everton face a Leicester side who lost to struggling Cardiff last time around.  Calvert-Lewin will have plenty of opportunities for attacking returns.

GW21 Points Scored:  2

MID: David Brooks

Team:  Bournemouth

Opponent:  Watford (Home)

Ownership:  18% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The youngster is having a great season so far, scoring five goals and assisting two in his debut season.  Brooks looks set to start once again in GW21, as Bournemouth host the inconsistent Watford.  This fixture should produce goals, and Brooks will be involved in most of The Cherries’ attacking play.

GW21 Points Scored:  2

MID: Joao Moutinho

Team:  Wolves

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  19% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Moutinho was only a substitute during the GW20 victory over Tottenham, although he did come on to gain an assist.  We expect him to start in GW21, and Wolves will be looking to make it two wins from two as they face Crystal Palace in front of their own fans.  The Portuguese international takes his fair share of set pieces, which will always provide potential for attacking returns.

GW21 Points Scored:  2

MID: Mateo Kovacic

Team: Chelsea

Opponent:  Southampton (Home)

Ownership:  16% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects: Kovacic was rested for the GW20 victory over Crystal Palace, so we’re expecting him to be recalled to the starting eleven as Chelsea face Southampton in GW21.  The Croatian international has two assists so far this season, and has a decent chance of gaining more against relegation battlers Southampton.

GW21 Points Scored:  0

MID: Juan Mata

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  22% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The talented Spaniard is surely due a game in GW21, after sitting out all three of Solskjaer’s games in charge so far.  Mata nearly always performs when he’s given the chance, and Newcastle will provide him with plenty of chances to make the most of their defensive frailties.  Obviously this is a bit of a punt as we’re predicting Mata will earn a start in GW21, but it could well pay off!  Lingard may drop out.

GW21 Points Scored:  3

DEF: Jonny

Team:  Wolves

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  10% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  A shocking win for Wolves in GW20, as they came from behind to beat Tottenham at Wembley!  In GW21 they face a much easier task of facing Crystal Palace in front of their own fans.  Jonny returned from injury a couple of weeks ago, and has slotted straight back into the Wolves backline.  The Eagles have seriously struggled for goals this season, and therefore Jonny offers clean sheet potential as well as attacking potential.  Boly is a good option if Jonny has been snapped up by a fellow manager.

GW21 Points Scored:  0

DEF: Charlie Daniels

Team:  Bournemouth

Opponent:  Watford (Home)

Ownership:  5% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Bournemouth host the ever inconsistent Watford in GW21, and there’s a decent chance of a clean sheet here.  The Cherries are not known for their clean sheets, but the Watford squad has been stretched over the Christmas period, and they performed poorly against Newcastle in GW20.  Daniels will be fielded at left-back, or on the left hand side of a back three, depending on the formation Howe opts for.

GW21 Points Scored:  1

DEF: Juan Foyth

Team:  Spurs

Opponent:  Cardiff (Away)

Ownership:  6% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  You cannot ship 3 goals at home and lose to Wolves and not make any changes in defence?  Foyth missed the GW20 shock defeat, but in his last outing kept a clean sheet in the GW19 5-0 Boxing Day destruction of Bournemouth.  We fully expect Foyth to come back into the side for GW21, for what should be an easy clean sheet on paper against Cardiff.

GW21 Points Scored:  0

DEF: Saed Kolasinac

Team:  Arsenal

Opponent:  Fulham (Home)

Ownership:  28% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The Gunners are consistently poor at the back, but Kolasinac offers attacking potential down the left hand side, as ever and as such Kolasinac makes it into our ‘Hot List‘.  Fulham have been improving in recent games, but they are still only scoring the odd goal.  Arsenal have a decent chance of a clean sheet here.  Koscielny is another decent option if Kolasinac is not a free agent; the Frenchman looks set to start after only coming on as a sub in GW20.

GW21 Points Scored:  5

GK: Jonas Lossl

Team:  Huddersfield

Opponent:  Burnley (Home)

Ownership:  14% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  As ever, not many options between the sticks considering our 35% ownership or below restrictions, so this week we’re going for Lossl as Huddersfield host Burnley.  The Clarets have been fairly poor in front of goal so far this season, and Lossl gains plenty of save points if Huddersfield do concede.  The Danish international saved a penalty in GW20.  Tom Heaton (12% ownership) is a decent option going forward, after his GW20 clean sheet – if he continues to perform he should keep his place for the foreseeable future.

Fantrax Starting Eleven (Togga scoring):

**65% ownership or below**

FANTRAX GW21

FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Leicester (Home)

Ownership:  25% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Calvert-Lewin sat out the GW20 defeat against Brighton, and after performing well in recent games, we’re expecting him to be re-called to the starting eleven.  Everton face a Leicester side who lost to struggling Cardiff last time around.  Calvert-Lewin will have plenty of opportunities for attacking returns.

GW21 Points Scored:  3.5

FWD: Ivan Cavaleiro

Team:  Wolves

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  15% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  The Wolves forward looked lively during his cameo appearance in GW20 picking up a crucial assist as Wolves came from behind to beat Spurs.  Cavaleiro is a good scorer of Togga points, averaging 6.85 points per game.

GW21 Points Scored:  7

MID: Matt Ricthie

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Manchester United (Home)

Ownership:  62% (Fantrax)

Prospects: Fresh from picking up an assist in GW20 in the draw with Watford, Ritchie looks back in form.  He is a consistent Togga points scorer averaging 7.47 points per game.  Opponents Manchester United have not kept a clean sheet in 7 GWs!

GW21 Points Scored:  7

MID: David Brooks

Team:  Bournemouth

Opponent:  Watford (Home)

Ownership:  60% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  The youngster is having a great season so far, scoring five goals and assisting two in his debut season.  Brooks looks set to start once again in GW21, as Bournemouth host the inconsistent Watford.  This fixture should produce goals, and Brooks will be involved in most of The Cherries’ attacking play.

GW21 Points Scored:  9

MID: Ander Herrera

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  48% (Fantrax)

Prospects: What a revival it has been for the central midfielder.  Over the past 3 GWs, Herrera has picked up 2 assists and 1 goal; taking his season tally to 3 assists and 2 goals – all of which have come in the past 4 GWs.  An in form Manchester United midfielder who offers an excellent way to jump on the United resurgence bus.

GW21 Points Scored:  4

MID: Oleksandr Zinchencko

Team:  Manchester City

Opponent:  Liverpool (Home)

Ownership:  18% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Is he going to actually play again after his blunder that lead to the Bournemouth goal?  Probably.  Mendy is still injured and Delph is suspended.  Plus Zinchencko did pick up an assist in GW20.  An excellent points scorer in Togga format, averaging 10.83 points per goal.  Worth the risk for those kind of points!

GW21 Points Scored:  0

DEF: Danny Rose

Team:  Spurs

Opponent:  Cardiff (Away)

Ownership:  60% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Having sat out the shock loss at home to Wolves in GW20, we expect Rose to come straight back into the side.  Spurs last 2 clean sheets have both come with Rose starting at left back.  With the chase for the title hotting up, we expect Rose to be included in the GW21 fixture against Cardiff.  A fixture that on paper should be an easy clean sheet for Rose and Spurs.  If Rose is taken in your Draft League, Foyth is a great alternative. He looks set to feature after sitting out the defeat to Wolves.

GW21 Points Scored:  16

DEF: Ryan Bennett

Team:  Wolves

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  48% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Wolves just never cease to amaze us.  Bennett has been solid as a rock all season and averaging 7.21 points per game he is a genuine asset in Togga style Draft Fantasy Football.

GW21 Points Scored:  0

DEF: Laurent Koscielny

Team:  Arsenal

Opponent:  Fulham (Home)

Ownership:  6% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  It hasn’t been an easy introduction back for Koscielny, as Arsenal have failed to keep a clean sheet and shipped 10 goals in the 4 GWs since his return.  But injuries dictate that the club captain will be starting at the back as he missed out GW20’s thumping to Liverpool.  Fulham should be no match, and Arsenal will target a clean sheet from this GW.

GW21 Points Scored:  9.5

DEF: Bernardo

Team:  Brighton

Opponent:  West Ham (Away)

Ownership:  3% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  A bit of a bold choice here chaps, as we know very little of Bernardo.  What we do know is that Bernardo’s form over the past couple of GWs has been pretty good; a clean sheet in GW20 against Everton and an assist in GW17 against Chelsea.  The bubble of the opponents, West Ham, has basically burst; with 1 goal in 3 GWs.  Bernardo is a worthwhile punt and a good scorer in Togga format, averaging 6.9 points per game.

GW21 Points Scored:  7.5

GK: Jonas Lossl

Team:  Huddersfield

Opponent:  Burnley (Home)

Ownership:  17% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  As ever, not many options between the sticks considering our 65% ownership or below restrictions, so this week we’re going for Lossl as Huddersfield host Burnley.  The Clarets have been fairly poor in front of goal so far this season, and Lossl gains plenty of save points if Huddersfield do concede.  The Danish international saved a penalty in GW20.  Tom Heaton (15% ownership) is a decent option going forward, after his GW20 clean sheet – if he continues to perform he should keep his place for the foreseeable future.

GW21 Points Scored:  9.25

Fantrax GW21 Team Points:  72.75

Fantrax GW21 Team Average:  6.6

Fantrax GW21 Average Ownership:  33%
