Fantrax Chaps Choices – GW27

Our weekly Chaps Choices article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score using our Alternative XI.  We recommend a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks, who could score big in the upcoming gameweek!

For this article we use the ownership statistics as per Fantrax (using Togga scoring), with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below, at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft Fantasy Football League.  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week punt!

Just a quick reminder to all you chaps out there; GW27 is one of those lame GW’s whereby a few teams do not have a GW!  Those team are: Everton, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Brighton!

Fantrax Alternative XI (Togga Scoring):

**60% ownership or below**

Draft Fantasy Football GW27 Fantrax

FWD: Dominic Solanke

Team:  Bournemouth

Opponent:  Wolves (Home)

Ownership:  15% (Fantrax)

Prospects: Here we feature another January signing, as Bournemouth striker Solanke looks set to start this weekend against Wolves.  Yes, we know Wolves have been playing extremely well, but we expect both teams to score, and Solanke isn’t goal dependant anyway.  The young striker has gained 10.5 points during his two appearances so far, where he played just 93 minutes of football.  That’s pretty encouraging from a Togga scoring perspective, and we’re hoping he puts in a decent shift in GW27.  Solanke will be desperate to impress, considering team mate Wilson is ruled out for another couple of weeks!

GW27 Points Scored:  11

FWD: Ashley Barnes

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Tottenham (Home)

Ownership:  50% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Two Barnes’ in the Chaps Choices this week, lovely stuff.  This time its Ashley, as the Burnley man has somehow slipped down below our 60% threshold!!  The Burnley striker has averaged over 14 points per game since the turn of the year, scoring three goals in the process.  The beauty of Ashley Barnes is that he doesn’t actually need goals to score well in Togga… he gained 12 points in GW22 without an attacking return.  This weekend Burnley face Tottenham at home, but we still expect the Canadian international to put in a decent performance.  Speaking of decent performances, team mate McNeil (42% Fantrax) has been putting in many a good display on Togga scoring since coming into the side in GW19.  If you need a consistent scorer in your attacking section, look no further than McNeil.  The Kiwi has averaged 12 points per game since January 1st, despite only gaining three attacking returns in these six games.

GW27 Points Scored:  10.5

MID: Miguel Almiron

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  60% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Almiron made his debut as a substitute in the GW26 draw with Wolves, and made quite the impression on Togga scoring!  He managed 4.5 points from just 18 minutes of play!  The Paraguayan international racked up one key pass, one successful cross, and one successful tackle during this appearance.  Almiron looks like a great addition to any Togga scoring league.  This weekend Newcastle face struggling Huddersfield, and will be expected to win this game easily.  Almiron is expected to make his first start for the club in GW27, and looks to be a great acquisition for any manager!  Hayden (7% Fantrax) and Rondon (58% Fantrax) are also good additions if Almiron has been taken in your league.

GW27 Points Scored:  24

MID: Youri Tielemans

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  51% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Tielemans made his first start for Leicester in GW26, and scored well considering the Foxes were well beaten by Tottenham.  6.5 points is an encouraging score.  Leicester are on the cusp of a great run of fixtures, and signing up their assets is highly recommended.  This weekend they face Crystal Palace in front of their own fans, and we expect Tielemans to put in a good performance based on key passes and successful tackles.  Sign him up whilst you still can!!

GW27 Points Scored:  6.5

MID: Harvey Barnes

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  18% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  And continuing on from the above, Harvey Barnes is also a great prospect.  The young midfielder has played well since returning from a successful loan spell with West Brom.  Barnes has only gained one attacking return so far, but he’s been putting in some steady Togga scores.  The youngster has averaged over 7 points per game in his four appearances so far. If he adds attacking returns to his game during Leicester’s great run of fixtures, he could be a golden differential for ToggaTrax managers.  The GW27 fixture against Crystal Palace gives Barnes a great opportunity to prove his worth to many a Draft Fantasy Football manager! We’re jumping

GW27 Points Scored:  19

MID: Juan Mata

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Liverpool (Home)

Ownership:  58% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  We did have Koscielny in this slot, but after his injury in the Europa League making him doubtful for the weekend, we’ve taken a punt on Mata!!  The Spaniard is a very talented footballer, but has always struggled to establish himself in the United starting XI.  Mata started against Fulham in GW26, and gained 12 points despite no attacking returns.  He also started in the 2-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup, and we think he’ll start once again due to the injuries to Lingard and Martial, and the poor form of Sanchez.  This weekend Manchester United do face Liverpool, but we think Mata is worth a punt for a decent score despite the tough game!

GW27 Points Scored:  2

MID: Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Team:  Arsenal

Opponent:  Southampton (Home)

Ownership:  11% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  The Arsenal youngster should see plenty of game time between now and the end of the season, after Bellerin’s season was ended by a serious knee injury, and Lichsteiner has shown he just isn’t good enough for this level any more.  In GW26, Maitland-Niles gained an assist, and a huge score of 19.5.  This weekend Arsenal face Southampton in front of their own fans, and therefore we believe Maitland-Niles has a decent chance of gaining further attacking returns.  It’s a shame he’s classified as a midfielder when he’s playing as a right wing-back, but he’s still a nice differential option in any case.  Dendoncker (12% Fantrax) offers an alternative for an under the radar pick here.  He’s played well since being installed into Wolves’ new look three man midfield in GW22.  He’s averaged over 8 points per game since the turn of the year.

GW27 Points Scored:  0

DEF: Adam Masina

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Cardiff (Away)

Ownership:  2% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Here we go Chaps, a splendid little differential pick to make the most of a suspension to a key player.  With Holebas suspended, the door has opened for Masina to come into the Watford side at left back, as they face Cardiff in GW27.  Masina played very well for a couple of games back in October; he gained 32 points from two games!!  We’ve been waiting for him to be given another chance in the side, and that will come this weekend.  Hopefully the Italian defender will be able to re-discover this great scoring form!  If you fancy a more stable pick, then we would recommend Mariappa (5% Fantrax).  The Watford centre back has averaged over 9 points per game since the turn of the year, and has been playing very well indeed!

GW27 Points Scored:  7

DEF: Fabian Schar

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  48% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  One of this seasons under the radar Togga scoring monsters has to be Schar.  His ownership is somehow still only 48%, despite averaging 13.5 points per game since the turn of the year!  He’s been picking up attacking returns, as well as providing some great scoring from his defensive duties.  This weekend Newcastle face Huddersfield, and we’re backing them for a clean sheet.  Schar should also score some decent individual points to go with the cleanie, and hopefully he’ll be on for another mega score!  If one of your fellow Draft Managers has already snapped up Schar, then Lascelles (59% Fantrax) or Lejeune (6% Fantrax) are decent alternatives.

GW27 Points Scored:  17.25

DEF: Angelo Ogbonna

Team:  West Ham

Opponent:  Fulham (Home)

Ownership:  6% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  West Ham really haven’t been the best at the back this season, and always seem to keep clean sheets when we least expect it!  This weekend The Hammers face Fulham at home, and we’re really hoping they can achieve the clean sheet when its expected of them!  We’ve highlighted Ogbonna here, as opponents Fulham are likely to be playing lots of high balls into Mitrovic… you guys know what that means, a West Ham centre back will need to win lots of headers to stop Mitrovic.  Ogbonna looks likely to be the man to be marking the Serbian striker, and therefore picking up lots of lovely aerials!  If you’re backing West Ham for a clean sheet, and fancy looking into some attacking potential instead of Ogbonna winning aerials, then Cresswell (26% Fantrax) could be your man.  He’s established himself in the side once again, and could gain a decent score this weekend.

GW27 Points Scored:  17.75

GK: Martin Dubravka

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  39% (Fantrax)

Prospects:  Newcastle face a poor Huddersfield side at home in GW27, and therefore we’re backing Dubravka for a clean sheet and a few saves to bring home a solid score.  Simple as that really.  Newcastle look like a great option for a clean sheet this weekend, and many of their defenders will be free agents!  Looking elsewhere, Etheridge (59% Fantrax) and Heaton (44% Fantrax) are less likely to get a cleanie, but will probably do well from save points.
