Draft Fantasy Chaps Choices – GW28

Our weekly Chaps Choices article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score using our Alternative XI.  We recommend a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks, who could score big in the upcoming gameweek!

For this article we use the ownership statistics as per Draft Fantasy, with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 35% or below, at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft Fantasy Football League.  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week punt!

N.B: For the purposes of this article, we use the standard scoring system used by Draft Fantasy – with Bonus Points, but without Kante Bonus

Draft Fantasy Alternative XI:

**35% ownership or below**

Draft Fantasy Football GW28 DFF

⚫️ FWD: Salomon Rondon ⚪️

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Burnley (Home)

Ownership:  28% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  We picked out Rondon successfully for GW27 and we are once again backing the Newcastle front man for GW28!  Rondon puts forward a solid case for any Draft Manager looking for a low budget third, or even second choice (if your league is super competitive) option.  With 7 goals and 4 assists to his name and an overall involvement in 11 of Newcastle’s 24 goals, Rondon who will be guaranteed to start is an absolute banker!  Opponents Burnley have not been typically strong in defence this season, and with only 1 clean sheet in the past 5 GWs we fully expect there to be goals in this one!  As an added bonus, Rondon is one of the few low ownership strikers who has a GW31 fixture!

GW28 Points Scored:  2

🍷 FWD: Ashley Barnes 🍷

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  18% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects: We didn’t expect that result!  The shock win in GW27 was largely due to the Burnley forward, Barnes, who netted a goal in the railroading of Spurs!  Barnes picked up 6 Draft Fantasy Football points and is enjoying a purple patch of form; having scored 4 goals in 4 GWs.  Not only can Barnes offer a genuine goal scoring threat, the forward also has 3 assists this season.  Despite keeping a clean sheet in GW27 we cannot see Newcastle keeping another cleanie.  All aboard chaps, Barnes is a primary target for any Draft Fantasy managers looking for a low budget forward!

GW28 Points Scored:  2

🦊 MID: Harvey Barnes 🦊

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Brighton (Home)

Ownership:  1% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Harvey Barnes is looking a serious talent; he’s currently in our Hot List!  Since making his way into the Foxes first team, Barnes has picked up 2 assists from his 4 starts!  These pretty good attacking returns merely shows his potential.  With Puel sacked, often a team comes out with the shackles released and impressed.  We fully expect Harvey Barnes to keep his place in the side to take on Brighton, who’ve had a week off.  Brighton are defensively poor, having shipped 12 goals in their last 6 GWs (there was a cleanie in there too).  We expect Leicester to run absolute riot this GW and for Harvey Barnes to be right in the mix pulling the strings.  Leicester also have a game during the Blank GW31, which increases Barnes’ prospects even more!

It’s worth keeping your eye on both Tielemans (0% DFF) and Maddison (50% DFF).  We think the change at the helm will give both creative midfielders a boost.  Maddison has relatively higher ownership, but if he is a Free Agent in your draft league he is worth snapping up!

GW28 Points Scored:  2

⚫️ MID: Miguel Almiron ⚪️

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Burnley (Home)

Ownership:  0% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Despite not having picked up any attacking returns yet, Almiron has made a seriously impressive start to life in Newcastle.  His all round play and ability on the ball suggest Newcastle have uncovered an absolute gem of a player and not another Riviera (remember him?).  As we’ve already touched upon, Burnley’s defence has not been what we come to expect this season, and with this in mind we expect the game to be full of goals.  Almiron will get off the mark this GW chaps; make sure you’re all aboard when it happens!

GW28 Points Scored:  3

🐺 MID: Joao Moutinho 🐺

Team:  Wolves

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Away)

Ownership:  19% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  More of the same for Wolves, another GW and more goals both conceded and scored!  In the middle of the park playmaker Moutinho continues to impress in his debut Premier League season.  Moutinho is the highest scoring midfielder in DFF for Wolves with 92 points, and this leads us to question why his ownership statistics are low?  However, use this to your advantage as Moutinho offers an excellent way to tick the points over on a weekly basis as your 5th choice, low budget midfielder.  Alternatively, if you’re looking at things one GW at a time, then Moutinho’s GW28 fixture against Huddersfield is about as good as it gets in the Premier League.  Huddersfield have conceded 13 goals in their last 5 GWs; and have now broken the half century mark with the third worst defensive records in the Premier League with 50 goals to date.

GW28 Points Scored:  3

😇 MID: Nathan Redmond 😇

Team:  Southampton

Opponent:  Fulham (Home)

Ownership:  15% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  As ever, Redmond offers so much promise.  The Southampton winger has returned 85 DFF points this season and has 3 goals and 2 assists to his name.  Redmond is an absolutely nailed on starter for GW28 against fellow strugglers Fulham.  Fulham have the worst defensive record in the Premier League so far, conceding a staggering 61 goals in 27 GWs!  They are bound to concede this weekend.  If you’re looking for a one-off GW attacking punt, Redmond is the man to look towards.

James Ward-Prowse (5% DFF) offers an excellent alternate choice.  He’s not scored the points that Redmond has this season, but is creative and will undoubtedly pull the strings this GW against Fulham.

GW28 Points Scored:  6

🍬 DEF: Seamus Coleman 🍬

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Cardiff (Away)

Ownership:  34% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  Whilst Everton can be really average defensively, there is a good chance that against Cardiff they will keep a clean sheet.  But you cannot exactly bank on an Everton cleanie, so Coleman becomes an exceptionally interesting opportunity.  Coleman’s ownership has dropped considering he hasn’t played in the past 2 GWs.  But don’t let this discourage you chaps, Coleman is still worth rolling the dice.  If the cleanie fails, Coleman has more opportunity than his defensive colleagues for attacking returns; he has a goal to his name this season.  Cardiff are scoring well at present, having scored in all 4 of their last fixtures.  But picking themselves up from a 5-1 home defeat in GW27 to Watford will be challenging.  Score prediction for this one; bore draw 0-0.

GW28 Points Scored:  11

🐺 DEF: Willy Boly 🐺

Team:  Wolves

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Away)

Ownership:  25% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects: As we mentioned above Huddersfield are shocking in defence and they’re not much better up front!!  The Terriers have scored only 1 goal in their last 6 GWs and 14 goals in total this season; they are the lowest goal scorers in not only the Premier League but in English top flight football.  Wolves haven’t kept a clean sheet since GW24, and this GW presents an ideal opportunity to get their 7th cleanie of the season.   Boly is Wolves second leading DFF points scorer with 82 points, but he is also the defensive rock of the side.  Boly has also proved he is capable in the final third with three goals.

GW28 Points Scored:  2

🔵 DEF: Sol Bamba 🔵

Team:  Cardiff

Opponent:  Everton (Home)

Ownership:  14% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects: Although Cardiff have conceded the second most goals in the Premier League (52) this term; the GW28 fixture with a faltering Everton has the makings of a dull 0-0; Bamba has in fact been involved in 7 clean sheets this season!  However, if the clean sheet goes chaps, Bamba offers attacking potential.  Bamba has 4 goals to his name this season making him Cardiff’s joint top goal scorer!  Worth a punt for this GW and certainly worth having in your Draft Fantasy squad as a very low budget defender.

GW28 Points Scored:  1

👹 DEF: Victor Lindelof 👹

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Away)

Ownership:  29% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  One of the best possible ways to get on the Manchester United revival, Lindelof is a must have chaps.  He’s been in our Hot List since Solskjaer took over!  Since the managerial change, Lindelof has been ever present and fully involved in all 4 of the clean sheets kept during the resurgance of form!  Subsequently Lindelof has found himself one of the most in form defenders in Draft Fantasy (check out the full list here).  Lindelof has also proved he can bring in attacking returns, having picked up a goal.  Opponents Crystal Palace are no mugs in front of goal, in fact Palace have scored in their last 7 GWs.  But this run won’t go on forever, and we fully expect Manchester United to have too much this weekend.  Given all the injuries suffered in their GW27 fixture with Liverpool; this one has the makings of a 0-0!

GW28 Points Scored:  7

😇 GK: Angus Gunn 😇

Team:  Southampton

Opponent:  Fulham (Home)

Ownership:  2% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Prospects:  The Southampton shot stopper has hardly featured for Southampton since his big summer move away from Manchester City.  However, it must be said, whenever Gunn has been called upon he has not let himself or his side down; showing that surely he is ready to become the no.1!  Despite conceding 2 goals in GW27 away to Arsenal we are confident Gunn will retain his spot for the visit of Fulham.  Last time Gunn met a side from West London he pulled off a stellar performance as he single-handedly kept Chelsea to a 0-0 draw.  Fulham are not as horrendous in front of goal as they are defending their own, but it doesn’t make great reading for the Londoners; having scored only 1 goal from their last 3 GWs.
