Draft Fantasy Chaps Choices – GW31

Our weekly Chaps Choices article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score using our Alternative XI.  We recommend a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks, who could score big in the upcoming gameweek!

For this article we use the ownership statistics as per Draft Fantasy, with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 35% or below, at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft Fantasy Football League.  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week punt!

N.B: For the purposes of this article, we use the standard scoring system used by Draft Fantasy – with Bonus Points, but without Kante Bonus.

🚨 Blank GW31 🚨

The last few weeks we’ve been analysing the prospects of every Blank GW31 team in the run up to this weekend… check out our GW31 Startegy Bible if you haven’t already.  We delve into strategies to employ going into this weekend, as well looking into key targets for all 10 sides involved this weekend.  We’ll be doing the same for the upcoming end of season Doubles and Blanks too, so watch this space!

Draft Fantasy Alternative XI:

**35% ownership or below**

GW31 CC V2

⚫️ FWD: Salomon Rondon ⚪️

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Away)

Ownership:  28% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  4.8 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  The Newcastle striker comes into this blank GW31 as one of the most inform players likely to be available in your Draft Fantasy league.  Rondon scored a goal and created another in GW30 which means he has 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 GWs!  GW31 opponents Bournemouth have only kept 1 clean sheet in their past 6 GWs; the Cherries have conceded 12 goals during this period.  Combining Bournemouth’s leaky defence and Rondon’s good form, we fully expect Rondon to pick up more attacking returns this GW.  Team mate Perez (18% DFF) is a great alternative; he bagged three attacking returns in GW30!!

GW31 Points Scored:  8

🍬 FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin 🍬

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Chelsea (Home)

Ownership:  18% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  3.8

Prospects:  The Toffee’s front man, Calvert-Lewin has really cemented his place in the side recently having scored 2 goals in his last 3 GWs.  Considering the fixtures are significantly reduced this GW and therefore the options are limited, Calvert-Lewin offers a genuine GW31 starting option.  Opponents Chelsea have not been as solid at the back as we come to expect.  In the last 8 GWs Chelsea have kept only 2 clean sheets and conceded a staggering 15 goals!  As such, a major defensive mainstay, Alonso, has lost his place in the side.  We think Chelsea are likely to concede, and given the form Calvert-Lewin has been in; we’d expect him to pick up an attacking return.  Ashley Barnes (18% DFF) is a great alternative here, if he’s a free agent in your Draft League – his Burnley side face Leicester at home.

GW31 Points Scored:  5

🦊 MID: Youri Tielemans 🦊

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  0% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  4 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  The Belgian is pretty hot right now, and has guaranteed GW31 and 33 fixtures!  Tielemans has picked up 2 assists and a goal in the last 3 GWs and as such we think you chaps should be strongly considering bringing him into your side!  Opponents Burnley have conceded 11 goals in their last 5 GWs with their last clean sheet coming all the way back in GW23.  With Leicesters form on the rise, we expect more goals this weekend, and Tielemans will be in the middle of all things attacking!  Youngster Harvey Barnes (1% DFF) is a good alternative here; having picked up another assist in GW30.

GW31 Points Scored:  5

⚒ MID: Manuel Lanzini ⚒

Team:  West Ham

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  13% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  1

Prospects:  Whilst we are focusing on GW31, the Argentinean is guaranteed GW31 and 33 fixtures.  Lanzini has only just returned from a serious knee injury and since his return he has done literally nothing; other than to get through some game time without picking up another injury.  We are purely punting on Lanzini because of the quality he possesses rather than his form.  The other factor is that Lanzini’s GW31 opponents are Huddersfield who are woeful.  Their last clean sheet came 8 GWs ago, and they will  undoubtedly concede again this GW.

GW31 Points Scored:  5

🔴 MID: Georginio Wijnaldum 🔴

Team:  Liverpool

Opponent:  Fulham (Away)

Ownership:  25% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  3.6

Prospects:  Wijnaldum is an excellent GW31 punt.  For a defensive midfielder, Wijnaldum has weighed in with 2 goals and an assist this season.  Don’t let these low returns put you off; he is almost a certainty to start and has the quality to pick up the attacking returns.  Fulham have statistically the worst defence in the Premier League; their last clean sheet came in GW20 during which Fulham have conceded 25 goals.  If you don’t fancy Wijnaldum, keep your eye on the Champions League lineup’s and availability in your Free Agents pool.  The other Liverpool midfielders that are worth considering are: Lallana (23% DFF) and Fabinho (14% DFF).

GW31 Points Scored:  2

🍒 MID: David Brooks 🍒

Team:  Bournemouth

Opponent:  Newcastle (Home)

Ownership:  24% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  1

Prospects:  As we pointed out in our GW30 Chaps Choice Bournemouth have been missing their summer 2018 signing Brooks!  We’ve ranked Brooks as Hot in our Draft Fantasy player rankings as he has guaranteed GW31 and 33 fixtures!  Despite his injury, Brooks is Bournemouths second highest scoring midfielder this season with 99 points and is absolutely guaranteed to start.  GW31 opponents Newcastle have shipped 4 goals in the last 2 GWs seeing a mass exodus of Draft Fantasy managers away from the Newcastle defensive wagon.  With injuries to key defensive players Schar and Lascelles we fully expect this one to have goals in it and for Brooks to get back into the attacking returns!

GW31 Points Scored:  2

🦊 DEF: Jonny Evans 🦊

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  3% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  2.4

Prospects:  Evans is likely to be available in your league and not only does he offer an excellent GW31 clean sheet but also has a GW33 fixture for those of you who are looking further afield!  Its a pretty decent run of fixtures for Leicester and Evans, with Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Newcastle, and West Ham all up in the next 4 GWs!  Opponents Burnley have struggled for both form and goals this season.  Burnley have only 34 goals this season, putting them joint 6th lowest goal scorers in the Premier League this season.  With Leicester returning to form, we expect Evans to take home a clean sheet this GW.

GW31 Points Scored:  2

🔴 DEF: Dejan Lovren 🔴

Team:  Liverpool

Opponent:  Fulham (Away)

Ownership:  24% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  N/A

Prospects:  With 4 clean sheets in the last 6 gameweeks, Matip is hot property so why have we picked Lovren instead?  Despite missing the last 10 GWs Lovren is still the better defender and will subsequently take his slot back in the starting XI.  Having returned to full fitness, Lovren is almost certain to start in GW31 having been on the bench for the midweek Champions League match.  It appears that all of you chaps agree with us, as our Twitter poll results have Lovren as the front runner to start!  GW31 opponents Fulham will be no match for Lovren and Liverpool as they look set to pick up another clean sheet and victory against a Fulham side seemingly resigned to the pending relegation.  Lovren offers an the best opportunity for Draft Fantasy managers to get a a premium top 2 defender into your squad.

GW31 Points Scored:  0

⚒ DEF: Declan Rice ⚒

Team:  West Ham

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Home)

Ownership:  7% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  3.8

Prospects:  Other than the Liverpool clean sheet this has to be the most likely clean sheet of GW31.  Rice has been in sublime form this season with 2 goals and 5 clean sheets.  Categorised defender but playing in midfield, Rice is much more likely to pick up attacking returns as well as the clean sheet points.  GW31 opponents Huddersfield are the Premier Leagues worst goal scorers with 15 goals in their 30 games.  Their last goal came in GW26 which also happens to be the only goal scored in 9 GWs.  All aboard the West Ham cleanie this week chaps!

GW31 Points Scored:  1

🦁 DEF: Emerson 🦁

Team:  Chelsea

Opponent:  Everton (Away)

Ownership:  20% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs: 1.3

Prospects:  Emerson is the new Chelsea left back having recently ousted regular left back Alonso.  As we pointed out earlier in this Chaps Choice article, Chelsea’s defensive form has been really poor recently.  In the last 8 GWs Chelsea have kept only 2 clean sheets and conceded a staggering 15 goals!  This might well put you off Emerson and fair enough if it does.  However Emerson has attacking capabilities that will bring some attacking returns.  If Chelsea can get a foothold in the game, don’t be surprised to see Emerson overloading on the left flank, pushing forward and looking to drive crosses into the box.

GW31 Points Scored:  0

🍷 GK: Tom Heaton 🍷

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Leicester (Home)

Ownership:  19% (Draft Fantasy Football)

Average Score Last 5 GWs:  1.6

Prospects:  Heaton has made the no.1 shirt his own again having returned from injury.  It hasn’t exactly been the easiest return to the side for Heaton having only kept 2 clean sheets in the last 11 GWs.  However given the blank fixtures this GW, Heaton is literally the only goal keeping option this GW.  Possible keepers that might be available in your free agents pool but cannot be included in our Chaps Choice (above 35% ownership) are: Fabianski (51% DFF) v Fulham and Schmeichel (59% DFF) v Burnley.

GW31 Points Scored:  1

GW31 Team Average Score:  2.8 points per player
