Our weekly Chaps Choices article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score using our Alternative XI. We recommend a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks, who could score big in the upcoming gameweek!
For this article we use the ownership statistics as per Fantrax (using Togga scoring), with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below, at the time of writing. This way there’s a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft Fantasy Football League. Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week punt!
🚨 Blank GW31 🚨
The last few weeks we’ve been analysing the prospects of every Blank GW31 team in the run up to this weekend… check out our GW31 Startegy Bible if you haven’t already. We delve into strategies to employ going into this weekend, as well looking into key targets for all 10 sides involved this weekend. We’ll be doing the same for the upcoming end of season Doubles and Blanks too, so watch this space!
Fantrax Alternative XI (Togga Scoring):
**60% ownership or below**
🍷 FWD: Ashley Barnes 🍷
Opponent: Leicester (Home)
Ownership: 56% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 12.2 (since Jan 26) 🔥🔥🔥
Prospects: Ashley Barnes is a must have acquisition ahead of GW31… he’s been on terrific form recently, and is not goal dependent for good scores in Togga. We’re not sure how his ownership is still below our 60% threshold!!! Burnley face Leicester in GW31, and this should be an entertaining game between two sides that we expect to find the back of the net. Barnes will be heavily involved in most of The Clarets’ attacking play. Team mates Wood (44% Fantrax) and McNeil (41% Fantrax) are decent alternatives, although both of them have struggled for points on Fantrax in recent weeks.
GW31 Points Scored: 5.5
🍬 FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin 🍬
Opponent: Chelsea (Home)
Ownership: 25% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 6.9 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: We took Calvert-Lewin out of our Chaps Choices at the last minute last weekend, but we won’t be making the same mistake here!! The young Everton striker is a prime target ahead of Blank GW31, after leading the line in recent weeks, playing pretty well, and bagging a couple of goals. Everton face Chelsea, but have a good chance of finding the back of the net after the Blues’ recent troubles in defence – only two clean sheets in the last eight games. Calvert-Lewin will be involved in most of their attacking play, and should be snapped up if you can.
GW31 Points Scored: 9.5
🦊 MID: Youri Tielemans 🦊
Opponent: Burnley (Away)
Ownership: 57% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 10.5 (since Jan 26) 🔥🔥🔥
Prospects: 39 points and three attacking returns in the last three games for Tielemans – get in there!!! The January Transfer Window signing is performing very well on Togga scoring, and is an essential signing ahead of Blank GW31. We’re not sure how his ownership is still below 60%, but we’re not complaining. Tielemans is a classy player, and the Leicester team look like a much better side with him stationed in the middle of the park. The Belgian creating a lot of opportunities for this team mates, and we think Leicester under Rogers will be a very tidy side.
GW31 Points Scored: 8
🦊 MID: Harvey Barnes 🦊
Opponent: Burnley (Away)
Ownership: 39% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 9.8 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: Speaking of Leicester under Rogers, Harvey Barnes is another player that we’ve been watching closely for the last couple of months – he’s pretty hot right now. The young midfielder has picked up three assists since returning from a productive loan spell at West Brom, and is a very good addition in any Draft League. Barnes has averaged nearly 10 points per game since January 26th, and should continue his good scoring this weekend as Leicester face Burnley. Maddison, Gray, and Barnes in support of Vardy, with Tielemans pulling the strings from a deeper position? Sounds so good on paper! Look to Gray (43% Fantrax) if Tielemans or Barnes are taken in your league, although Gray didn’t start in Leicester’s last away game. Lanzini (58% Fantrax) and Snodgrass (56% Fantrax) are also viable alternatives to Barnes for this weekend.
GW31 Points Scored: 1.5
🍷 MID: Ashley Westwood 🍷
Opponent: Leicester (Home)
Ownership: 36% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 9.4 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: The Burnley midfielder has featured a fair amount in our Chaps Choices teams in recent weeks – he’s consistently putting in decent scores, and we’re banking on him gaining another decent score this weekend. Westwood has gained 40.5 points from his last three appearances, averaged 9.4 points per game since January 26th, and has attacking returns in his last two! Looking at those statistics, he’s a great signing ahead of Blank GW31. Burnley face Leicester in front of their own fans, and we’re expecting both teams to score, in what should be an entertaining game (largely due to Leicester’s exciting attackers, rather than Burnley’s style of play though). Westwood looks like a solid pick ahead of this weekend, and looking at his ownership, he should still be fairly under the radar.
GW31 Points Scored: 6.5
🔴 MID: Adam Lallana 🔴
Opponent: Fulham (Away)
Ownership: 18% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 4.2 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: Lallana!!! The forgotten man has found his way into our Chaps Choices linuep! Lallana was given a somewhat surprising start in GW30, and scored 10 points on Fantrax during a productive outing. The Englishman featured as a late substitute in the Champions League, so we’re backing him to earn a start this weekend as Liverpool face a very poor Fulham side. Liverpool really benefited from his industrial work during the 4-2 victory over Burnley, and with Henderson injured and Shaqiri out of favour, it looks as though Lallana will be given the nod once again. Ideal for an under the radar Blank GW31 signing! If you don’t fancy taking a punt on Lallana, Hayden (35% Fantrax) is a secure starter that should score fairly well this weekend. He’s been a bit of a boss on Togga scoring in recent weeks and months.
GW31 Points Scored: 7
⚒ DEF: Aaron Cresswell ⚒
Team: West Ham
Opponent: Huddersfield (Home)
Ownership: 27% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 2.9 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: We’ve got to back West Ham for a clean sheet this weekend, as they face bottom of the league Huddersfield in front of their own fans. However, its tough to predict their side, after such a poor display last time around against Cardiff! We’re going with Cresswell, despite the fact that he’s been scoring fairly poorly on Togga this season. The English left-back is the most secure starter, and can be an attacking threat on his day. Huddersfield have a tendency to concede goals down their right hand side… 👀. Diop (15% Fantrax) is probably the second best choice here… Ogbonna (22% Fantrax) has been scoring well recently, but with Balbuena (14% Fantrax) returning to the match day squad, his place in the team is now under threat!
GW31 Points Scored: 15.25
🔴 DEF: Dejan Lovren 🔴
Opponent: Fulham (Away)
Ownership: 60% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: N/A (since Jan 26)
Prospects: We ran a Twitter poll asking the Draft Community who they think will start this weekend for Liverpool… Lovren or Matip. Lovren won the poll, but only just, so he makes his way into our choices for this weekend! For us it makes sense that Lovren would play, as Matip has played a lot of football recently, including the midweek Champions League league victory over Bayern Munich, and Liverpool are facing a very poor Fulham side. It’s the ideal time to give Lovren some game time. We don’t need to tell you how good Liverpool are at the back this season, so just go ahead and sign a defender from one of the best teams in the league!
GW31 Points Scored: 0
🐶 DEF: Jon Stankovic 🐶
Opponent: West Ham (Away)
Ownership: 9% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 14.3 (since Jan 26) 🔥🔥🔥
Prospects: We’re expecting Huddersfield to lose to West Ham, but we can’t help but back Stankovic again. The Terriers defender has bagged 40 points over the last three games, despite two consecutive losses. He’s an absolute beast on Togga scoring considering he plays for such a poor side. Snap up Stankovic for a guaranteed decent score during a weekend where points will be very hard to come by!
GW31 Points Scored: -2.75
🦁 DEF: Emerson 🦁
Opponent: Everton (Away)
Ownership: 14% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 2 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: Emerson seems to have taken over from Alonso as the first choice Chelsea left back, and now is the time to take a punt on the Italian! Chelsea face a trip to Everton in GW31, but they also have a good chance of a double GW32… Emerson is worth taking a chance on because of this. He’s scored pretty well on Togga when he’s been given a chance in the side, so he’s a good bet for this weekend.
GW31 Points Scored: 0
🍒 GK: Artur Boruc 🍒
Opponent: Newcastle (Home)
Ownership: 15% (Fantrax)
Average Points Per Game: 6 (since Jan 26)
Prospects: Bournemouth kept a clean sheet in GW30, and they have a chance of doing it again, despite playing a Newcastle side who have performed well in front of goal in recent weeks. Boruc has played really well since he ousted Begovic from the side, and he’s been scoring fairly well on Togga scoring. There aren’t many choices for keepers under 60% ownership during this Blank GW, and you could do a lot worse than Boruc if you do need a new shot stopper. Daniels (16% Fantrax) is the best option for a low ownership Bournemouth defender, if you don’t need a goalkeeper!
GW31 Points Scored: 3.25
GW31 Team Points: 53.75
GW31 Team Average Score: 4.9 points per player
GW31 Average Ownership: 32%
