Fantrax Chaps Choices – GW33

Our weekly Chaps Choices article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score using our Alternative XI.  We recommend a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks, who could score big in the upcoming gameweek!

For this article we use the ownership statistics as per Fantrax (using Togga scoring), with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below, at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft Fantasy Football League.  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week punt!

Following on from our inaugural Fantrax Power Rankings, where we ranked our Top 10 players for GW32 through to GW36, our GW33 Chaps Choices features plenty of players we highlighted during this article.  Check out these Power Rankings if you’re looking for players to target across these GWs!

Mini Double GW33

Chelsea and Crystal Palace have two games during this Mini Fantrax Double GW33, and the deadline for this GW is actually Tuesday night!  Don’t get caught out… these fixtures for GW33 run from Tuesday night through until Sunday!

Fantrax Alternative XI (Togga Scoring):

**60% ownership or below**

Draft Fantasy Football GW33 Fantrax

🍷 FWD: Dwight McNeil 🍷

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Away)

Ownership:  45% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  9.2 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  McNeil has bagged two goals in his last two games, finding his Fantrax form once again after a few dud appearances.  The youngster looks set to stay in the side despite the return to fitness of Brady, which is great news for us Draft Managers!  Burnley face a trip to Bournemouth in GW33, and although we think there’s a chance of a Cherries clean sheet, this shouldn’t put you off signing McNeil.  He tends to score pretty well, even without the reliance on attacking returns!  Bingo.  Ashley Barnes (58% Fantrax) is, as ever, a good alternative.

GW33 Points Scored:  9

🍬 FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin 🍬

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Arsenal (Away)

Ownership:  35% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  10.5 (since Feb 9) 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  Calvert-Lewin continues to score well on Togga scoring, with or without attacking returns!  We backed him in our GW32 Chaps Choices, and he brought home 10 points despite no returns.  We’re hoping for more of the same in GW33, as Everton host ArsenalCalvert-Lewin will continue in the side, and even if he doesn’t score, he should gain a decent points tally.  Sign him up Chaps!!!  This is exactly the kind of player you need in your Fantrax squads; that’s why he featured prominently in our Fantrax Power Rankings!  His ownership should be much higher than 35%.  Hudson-Odoi (13% Fantrax) is a great alternative here, as the young Chelsea man is “probably” going to start against Brighton in the first of the Blues’ fixtures!

GW33 Points Scored:  15.5

🦁 MID: Ruben Loftus-Cheek 🦁

Team:  Chelsea

Opponent:  Brighton (Home) and West Ham (Home)

Ownership:  26% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  4.75 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  Loftus-Cheek has been seeing some decent minutes from the bench in recent weeks, and has actually bagged two goals in his last three Premier League appearances.  The England man is a good Togga scorer, so we’ve been desperate for him to get a proper run in the side.  GW33 sees Chelsea face Brighton and West Ham at home, and after Loftus-Cheek bagged the winning goal against Cardiff in GW32, we’re backing him to start at least one of these games.  He’s a good player, and offers a lot more than the likes of Barkley, Kovacic, or Jorginho!  Please give him a chance from the start Sarri!!!

GW33 Points Scored:  43

🦊 MID: Harvey Barnes 🦊

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Away)

Ownership:  41% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  8.3 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  Young winger Harvey Barnes has tailed off slightly in recent games, but as Leicester are playing a poor Huddersfield side, who are already relegated, we can’t help but back him again!  Tielemans (63% Fantrax) is obviously a better pick here if you can get your hands on him – unfortunately for us his ownership is now over our 60% selection threshold.  Barnes will continue to play a prominent role for Leicester under Rogers, as he often puts his confidence in young, talented players.  Barnes ranked 2nd for GW33 in our Fantrax Power Rankings, and actually came in 2nd overall for these rankings between GW32 and GW36.  Keep the faith in Barnes and hope for a good score this weekend!

GW33 Points Scored:  4.5

🏠 MID: Ryan Babel 🏠

Team:  Fulham

Opponent:  Watford (Away)

Ownership:  43% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  7.7 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  It’s a gamble to back any Fulham player at the moment, but we think Babel will be able to take advantage of a weakened Watford side in GW33.  The Hornets will have one eye on the FA Cup Semi Final, and Babel is Fulham’s only decent attacking outlet right now.  The Dutchman scored against Liverpool in GW31, so why not take a punt on him doing the same during Tuesday night’s opening fixture!  We backed Babel for GW33 in our Fantrax Power Rankings due to the fact that Watford will be fielding a weakened side.  If you really don’t fancy Fulham to get anything, then why not take a punt on Zinchencko (41% Fantrax).  The Ukrainian midfielder has been stationed at left back in recent weeks, and scores fairly well on Togga scoring.  Mendy could earn a GW33 start though, as City face Cardiff at home.

GW33 Points Scored:  17

⚪️ DEF: Ben Davies ⚪️

Team:  Tottenham

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  56% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  0.9 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  Davies’ ownership has fallen below our 60% ownership threshold, and he looks set to start in Tottenham’s GW33 fixture against Crystal Palace.  Rose started in GW32, so we’re expecting the left-back rotation to continue, and for Davies to get a chance to impress in the Premier League.  The Welshman hasn’t played much recently, but he has a good chance of a decent score this time around.  Smalling (52% Fantrax) is an alternative here for a route into the defence of a Top Six club.  The Englishman should start as United face a trip to Wolves, but with Jones playing well in GW32, and Lindelof perhaps coming back into the side, there is a chance Smalling will miss out in GW33.

GW33 Points Scored:  14.5

🦁 DEF: Emerson 🦁

Team:  Chelsea

Opponent:  Brighton (Home) and West Ham (Home)

Ownership:  11% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  3.8 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  We did have Mepham (3% Fantrax) lined up in this slot, but with Alonso missing out for Chelsea, we can’t help but give Emerson a go!  The Blues have a Double Fantrax GW33, and considering the first game is a home tie against Brighton, Emerson looks set to do well.  Sign him up if you can Chaps!!  Regarding Mepham, he’s done well in recent weeks, and is still a decent shot, despite the Bournemouth defence being very inconsistent.  The January Transfer Window signing has been playing well, and scoring ok, in recent weeks.

GW33 Points Scored:  18.75

🦊 DEF: Jonny Evans 🦊

Team:  Leicester

Opponent:  Huddersfield (Away)

Ownership:  25% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  7.9 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  We’ve been waiting for Evans to establish himself in the Leicester side, after sitting on the bench for most of the first half of the season.  The Northern Irishman is now a mainstay in central defence, and has been scoring well in recent weeks.  Evans gained 14 points in GW32, and faces already relegated Huddersfield in GW33.  Another clean sheet, and another double figure score looks on the cards!

GW33 Points Scored:  0

⚪️ DEF: Fabian Schar ⚫️

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  54% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  11.7 (since Feb 9) 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  The Swiss defender will be back from suspension ready for the GW33 fixture with Crystal Palace, and will surely start as long as he’s over his recent bout of concussion.  Schar has been an amazing Togga scoring asset in recent months, and we’re backing him to get back to scoring big in GW33.  Many a manager would have dropped him after his suspension, so snap him up if you can; he’s bound to score well as long as he starts the game!  We ranked Schar in 1st place for GW33 in our GW32 to GW36 Fantrax Power Rankings a couple of weeks ago!!

GW33 Points Scored:  5.25

🦅 DEF: Jeffrey Schlupp 🦅

Team:  Crystal Palace

Opponent:  Tottenham (Away) and Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  58% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  13.5 (since Feb 9) 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  Schlupp continues to score amazingly well, after he bagged 18 points in GW32, and has averaged 13.5 points per game since February 9th.  The Ghanaian international has a Double GW33, as Palace face trips to Tottenham and NewcastleSchlupp probably won’t gain points for clean sheets, but he’s almost guaranteed to be involved in the action at the other end of the field, as he continues to play in midfield.  Schlupp came in at 8th place overall for our GW32 to GW36 Fantrax Power Rankings, and this was partly due to his high ranking for this Double GW33!  If Schlupp is still a free agent in your Draft League, he simply has to be signed.  Dann (5% Fantrax) is a good alternative if Schlupp is unavailable; he scored very well in GW32.

GW33 Points Scored:  13.5

🐝 GK: Ben Foster 🐝

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Fulham (Home)

Ownership:  59% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  6.3 (since Feb 9)

Prospects:  Watford are likely to rotate heavily prior to their FA Cup Semi Final at the weekend, but we would expect Foster to remain in goal for the visit of Fulham. The Cottagers are a poor side, so we would give Watford a good chance of keeping a clean sheet, even if they do field a weakened side!  The Hornets played pretty well against United in GW32, so another good performance with a rotated side is likely.

Guaita (14% Fantrax) and Dubravka (38% Fantrax) offer decent alternatives.  Guaita has a double GW, although these games are both away from home and are against Tottenham and Newcastle.  The Spaniard did gain a huge 18.5 points in GW32 though!  Dubravka has actually scored negative points in each game between GW29-31, but he has a chance of making amends as The Magpies host Crystal Palace in GW33.

GW33 Points Scored:  10

GW33 Team Points:  151

GW33 Team Average Score:  13.7 points per player

GW33 Average Ownership:  39%
