Fantrax Chaps Choices – GW34

Our weekly Chaps Choices article is here to give you hints and tips to help you find your golden ticket to a big score using our Alternative XI.  We recommend a starting eleven of Premier League Draft Fantasy Football differential picks, who could score big in the upcoming gameweek!

For this article we use the ownership statistics as per Fantrax (using Togga scoring), with the rules being each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below, at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft Fantasy Football League.  Use these suggestions to give your team a little boost with a one week punt!

Following on from our inaugural Fantrax Power Rankings, where we ranked our Top 10 players for GW32 through to GW36, our GW34 Chaps Choices Alternative XI features five of players we highlighted during this article a few weeks ago.  Check out these Power Rankings if you’re looking for players to target across these GWs!

Fantrax Alternative XI (Togga Scoring):

**60% ownership or below**

Draft Fantasy Football GW34 Fantrax

🍷 FWD: Dwight McNeil 🍷

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Cardiff (Home)

Ownership:  46% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  8.6 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  McNeil continues to perform well on Togga scoring platforms, following up his back to back goals in GW31 and 32, with a solid score of 7 in GW33.  This weekend Burnley face Cardiff at home, and we’re expecting a good win for the Clarets to make it two wins in a row.  McNeil should perform well, and will have plenty of opportunities to add to his three goals and four assists this season.  The young winger continues to keep the likes of Gudmundsson and Brady out of the side.  Be cautious here though, the fixture schedule turns for the worst for Burnley after this game!

GW34 Points Scored:  21

🍷 FWD: Chris Wood 🍷

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Cardiff (Home)

Ownership:  44% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  8.8 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  And following on from the above, we’re also backing Wood to score well as Burnley host Cardiff!  The big Kiwi bagged a goal and an assist in GW33, and has an average score of 8.8 points per game since February 23rd!  Pretty good, huh?  Ashley Barnes (54% Fantrax) is, as ever, a decent alternative.  Barnes’ points per game average has been declining in recent weeks, but he’s still a good bet considering Burnley face relegation battlers Cardiff.

GW34 Points Scored:  30

🍬 FWD: Dominic Calvert-Lewin 🍬

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Fulham (Away)

Ownership:  36% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  12.1 (since Feb 23) 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  Calvert-Lewin has been in terrific form recently, and unbelievably has ownership as low as 36%!!!  Sign him up if you can… the young striker featured in our GW32 to GW36 Power Rankings, and is more than justifying his inclusion!  Calvert-Lewin has averaged over 12 points per game since February 23rd, despite only scoring two goals during these six games.  This weekend Everton face a trip to already relegated Fulham, and we’re expecting them to win this one to make it four wins in a row.  Calvert-Lewin will be involved in the majority of the Toffees attacking play.  A decent alternative here is Ings (59% Fantrax) who has declined in ownership after his recent injuries.  Southampton face Wolves at home.

GW34 Points Scored:  3

⚪️ MID: Anthony Knockaert 🔵

Team:  Brighton

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Home)

Ownership:  59% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  11.6 (since Feb 23) 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  Knockaert has gained double figure returns in each of his last four starts for Brighton, so we’re hoping for another big score this weekend as he faces a leaky Bournemouth defence!  The Frenchman came out on top during our Fantrax Power Rankings article for GW32 to GW36, as he has favourable fixtures, and Doubles in GW35 and 36.  Snap up Knockaert now… a good fixture in GW34, followed by two Doubles!!!  Brighton played very well during their FA Cup Semi Final defeat to Man City, and will be desperate to win against fellow south coast side Bournemouth, as they aim to secure their Premier League status.  Our alternative pick here is Harvey Barnes (37% Fantrax).  The young Leicester midfielder has seen his form dip in recent weeks, but he could be worth one final shot as The Foxes host Newcastle!

GW34 Points Scored:  -5.5

🔵 MID: Victor Camarasa 🔵

Team:  Cardiff

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  51% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  11.4 (since Feb 23) 🔥🔥🔥

Prospects:  Camarasa has returned to full fitness, and we’ve got ourselves a gem of a Fantrax player back!  The Cardiff playmaker has averaged 11.4 points per game since returning to the side for the last four games.  The Spaniard tends to score well even when Cardiff lose, and he doesn’t gain any attacking returns!  The Blues face a trip to Burnley this weekend, and although we’re not expecting a victory, Camarasa should still score well!  Cardiff have a Double GW35 and GW36 coming up in Fantrax, where Camarasa scored well during our Power Rankings article a few weeks ago.

GW34 Points Scored:  1.5

😇 MID: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg 😇

Team:  Southampton

Opponent:  Wolves (Home)

Ownership:  48% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  9.7 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  Our steady scoring midfield pick for this week is Hojbjerg of Southampton, as he’s been playing well in recent weeks, and actually has attacking returns in both of his last two games.  The Danish midfielder has averaged nearly 10 points per game since February 23rd, and has a good set of fixtures to finish the season.  This weekend Southampton host a Wolves side who will be gutted following their extra time defeat in the FA Cup Semi Final.  We’re backing Southampton to pick up the win, and Hojbjerg to perform well yet again.  An alternative here is Westwood (46% Fantrax), as Burnley host a poor Cardiff side.  The Englishman has performed very well in recent weeks; averaging 11.8 points per game since February 23rd.

GW34 Points Scored:  5

🍬 MID: Bernard 🍬

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Fulham (Away)

Ownership:  31% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  7.2 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  Bernard has really upped his game in recent weeks, as he scored 20 points in GW32 when he scored in the victory over West Ham, followed by 11.5 points during a man of the match performance against Arsenal in GW33.  This weekend Everton face a trip to Fulham, and they will surely make it four wins in a row.  Bernard has a great chance of another good score, and should be targeted ahead of the season finale; Everton have a good fixture list, despite no Fantrax Double GW.  Pretty much the only player for Bernard’s opposition that has a chance of a decent score this weekend is Babel (43% Fantrax).  The Dutch veteran continues to perform well, and is one to consider for this weekend after his goal and 17 point return in GW33.

GW34 Points Scored:  7

😇 DEF: Yan Valery 😇

Team:  Southampton

Opponent:  Wolves (Home)

Ownership:  13% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  8.6 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  Yan Valery has been terrific since getting his chance in the side following Cedric’s January Transfer Window departure.  The young right back has been popping up with attacking returns to go with the odd clean sheet.  Two goals in nine starts for a rookie defender is pretty good!!  Valery has an average points per game score of 8.6 since February 23rd, and we’re pretty high on his prospects ahead of the season finale.  This weekend Southampton face a Wolves side who will be on pretty low morale after their defeat in the FA Cup Semi Final; we’re backing the Saints to win and gain a cleanie!  An alternative here is fellow Southampton defender Bednarek (11% Fantrax).  His average points per game of 7.4 shows his Togga scoring value.  The big Polish defender has bagged several double figure returns this season, even without the need for a clean sheet.

GW34 Points Scored:  4.5

👹 DEF: Victor Lindelof 👹

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  West Ham (Home)

Ownership:  44% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  6.9 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  We’ve backed Lindelof quite a lot recently, and he’s not been rewarding us with good scores!  This week is the week though Chaps.  Manchester United face a West Ham side who haven’t scored since GW31, and are generally in a bit of a mess.  They have good players, but something isn’t quite right.  We’re expecting United to take advantage of this, and bring home a clean sheet.  Lindelof has averaged 6.9 points per game since February 23rd, and we’re expecting a good score this weekend.  We backed the Swedish defender in our Fantrax Power Rankings a few weeks ago, hopefully he can start repaying us!  Zouma (25% Fantrax) is a good alternative here if you don’t trust the United defence; Everton have kept three clean sheets in a row, and face already relegated Fulham.

GW34 Points Scored:  0

⚪️ DEF: Bernardo 🔵

Team:  Brighton

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Home)

Ownership:  6% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  9.5 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  Brighton face Bournemouth at home in GW34, and we’re backing left back Bernardo to bring home a good score.  The Brazilian defender has been scoring very well recently, as he’s averaged nearly 10 points per game in recent weeks!!  This is a must win game for Brighton, as they have been getting closer and closer to the drop zone in recent weeks and months.  The Seagulls played very well in their FA Cup Semi Final defeat to Man City, and Hughton’s men will be looking to bring another good performance to the table.  Looking elsewhere, Burnley left back Taylor (10% Fantrax) is a decent alternative as they face Cardiff.

GW34 Points Scored:  -3.75

🍷 GK: Tom Heaton 🍷

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Cardiff (Home)

Ownership:  38% (Fantrax)

Average Points Per Game:  2.1 (since Feb 23)

Prospects:  Heaton has been on fairly poor Togga scoring form in recent weeks, as he’s averaged just 2.1 points per game since February 23rd.  However, Burnley face Cardiff at home this weekend, and we’re backing them to win and keep a clean sheet!  Surely its time for a Clarets cleanie once again.  A good alternative here is Gunn (9% Fantrax), as the Saints face Wolves at home, and we fancy them for a clean sheet.  Gunn has averaged over 7 points per game in recent weeks.

GW34 Points Scored:  12.25

GW34 Team Points:  75

GW34 Team Average Score:  6.8 points per player

GW34 Average Ownership:  38%
